Had to go out a couple of hours ago.
I live in a culturally diverse area. In my street alone, there are your typical Anglo-Celt Aussies, a Sudanese family, a Muslim family and a Sikh family
In the nearly three decades I've lived here, I've rarely seen an hijab. Today I saw what seemed to be a woman in full burqa, walking along the foot path with a young man at her side. If the family is that conservative, she would not be permitted to leave the house alone.
My reaction was sadness rather than anger. I realised almost immediately that neither reaction is appropriate. The pair were not breaking any laws as far as I could see--IT"S REALLY, TRULY, ROOLY , NONE OF MY BUSINESS.
I think that experience alone justifies getting up this morning.
