I mean sure, we have Disney but no one else has made a peep and even Disney isn’t doubling down in a loud or outspoken manner. Is everybody just waiting for pride month in June? Or are companies genuinely scared of profit losses? And worse, are more liberal representatives afraid of losses in the midterms if they speak on this too much? I would like to think neither of these things are the case but… it really feels like only one side is making any noise right now. I don’t like it.
My concern is that it is a slippery slope. "Don't say Gay/Trans" will someday morph into banning all transgenders from coming within 1,000 feet of any elementary school. Here's Me, by the way:
I need to get my hair dyed. But, my major concern is that individuals like me will, if the far right has their way, be lumped with sex offenders and the like all in the name of "protecting" K-3 students. By the way, when I show-up to pickup my 5th grader from her school, dozens of K-3 children get a real-life lesson in transgenderism "live and in full color". So far, no adult or parent has said anything to me, although, I have gotten a few nasty comments from a few of my daughter's classmates, both girls and boys, which I have ignored.
The combination of a lack of proper defense of the issue from some liberals, along with recent opinion polls concerns me. If the polls are to be taken seriously it seems like trans issues have not quite caught up to gay rights issues in the mainstream. I’m concerned that the far right is deliberately trying to create a wedge issue out of this with knowledge of said polling data. Im also concerned that the same data could explain some of the lack of liberal backlash.
