RE: Proposed Award - Kook of the Month
How about "Unthinker of the Month", or "The Kirk Cameron Award".

I'm all for crushing theists, but I think the brothers-in-christ (you know which three they are) would get it every month.

Plus, it might be a little too negative.

Perhaps a better award would be a "Best Burn" award or something similar.

Believe it or not, the intent was not to have such an award apply to only theists. Certainly we've got some atheists here who would qualify as well - I know I can think of a few. I do recognize that due to AF's demographics that theists would win most of not all of the time.

I also recognize the the label of 'Kook' would likely be perceptive, and that a more neutral title would be preferable.

I'm all for this.

Fuck me, why do we suddenly care about hurting their feelings? Everyone is quick to jump on them and tell them they are stupid, so why does giving them an award for stupidity seem any different.

Here's an idea! Maybe if they weren't so fucking stupid, they wouldn't get an award, FOR BEING SO GOD DAMNED FUCKING STUPID.

Atheist forums supposed to be secularized for theist members. The concept of "Kook of the Month" award promote typical hatred/discrimination towards theists. Or rather, I think the title of "Kook of the Month" too provocative - I'm all for "Proud to be Christian" or less provocative title.

Who cares if Kook of the Month is provocative to theists? It is surely up to them to prove that their views aren't kooky? Provocative doesn't come into it.

Furthermore, most theists that come on here know what likely conversation they are going to get with atheists, are prepared for the questioning and stick, and are suitably thick skinned.

Thin skinned theists know where the door is.

I'm being considerate then it comes to good group of theists, I suppose. We have nice, civilized theists in this atheist forums, and I wouldn't want to award them with "I'm an idiot" medal out of malicious intention.

I'm fine with rewards/award/medals as long as it's civilized.

But none of the nice, civilised, non-shite talking theists would get awarded kook of the month, would they?
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

For even though it looks like G-c and Waldork would be shoe-in winners every month.

Those two can vie for the title of the Babe Ruth of Stupidity.

Oh I don't know - we have some new additions that look like strong contenders, if they manage to not get themselves banned.

My position in this awards has changed - I'm in favor for awards for theists.
I was referring to the title of awards more less provocative, more fun:
Too many illogical comments = "Highly illogical" medal with picture of Spock from star trek.
Too many logical comments = "Seems logical to me captain" medal with picture of Spock from star trek. Smile

Kook of the month doesn't sound bad, though.

Can't we just call them fuckwits and be done with it?
