The new atheists and The war on History
December 30, 2011 at 10:10 am
Increasingly often, the new atheists, in their conferences, and on their blogs make an appeal to history.
Unfortunately it is not the history that we all know, but a new "atheist history" full of martyrs such as Giordano Bruno or Hypatia of Alexandria, who had supposedly died for their scientific opinions.
A history of a permanent opposition of religion, to any scientific progress, a history where for example in Europe any form of anatomical research was banned, while in "Islam" dissection and autopsies were supposedly "widely practiced". A history where a terrified Pope is said to have excommunicated a comet for being an "instrument of the devil". A history where Christianity brought a "Dark Age" of 1000 years that only knowledge brought "from Islam" was able to shatte..
It is becoming increasingly obvious that we are dealing with a conflict
A conflict between atheism and history
.
PS.
I wonder why atheists think of this problem
Are they aware that it exists?

You don't think that Hypatia of Alexandria Giordano Bruno were killed for having opinions contrary to those held by the Christians? Wow, look who is trying to rewrite history!
Go fuck yourself.

Well, technically, Bruno's belief in Copernicus' system was only part of the reason the Church had him burnt; he also believed that there were multiple Adams and Gardens of Eden. Here are the charges held against Bruno during his trial:
holding opinions contrary to the Catholic faith and speaking against it and its ministers;
holding opinions contrary to the Catholic faith about the Trinity, divinity of Christ, and Incarnation;
holding opinions contrary to the Catholic faith pertaining to Jesus as Christ;
holding opinions contrary to the Catholic faith regarding the virginity of Mary, mother of Jesus;
holding opinions contrary to the Catholic faith about both Transubstantiation and Mass;
claiming the existence of a plurality of worlds and their eternity;
believing in metempsychosis and in the transmigration of the human soul into brutes, and;
dealing in magics and divination.

Hello revisionist. You mean the eternal conflict between religion & reality, right?
BTW, Wikipedia says you are full of shit. With references.
You've got nothing.

Executing him for a thoughtcrime doesn't make it any better.

Because it's "scientifically" impossible?

In fact studies have been published on both cases, Giordano Bruno was an occultist who wanted to "reform the church from inside". in the entire interrogation Giordano Bruno was not charged that he had some "scientific visions".
The Charge was that he preached against, the Holy Trinity, against the divinity of Jesus, and so on
the Catholic Church killed thousands of heretics (that was wrong, course) but only Giordano Bruno appears as a martyr of atheism.
Hypatia of Alexandria was an interesting old lady, according to some sources, she was heading towards 60.
She was involved in various political games whit the group of pagans of Alexandria, against the official position of the Roman Empire.
The film that presents her as a young and beautiful woman, trying to save some papyrus, has little in common with reality.

Giordano Bruno, a martyr of atheism? Never heard that before.
Hypatia of Alexandria was murdered by christians for refusing to be a christian. They made an example of her. And that "papyrus" you mentioned was a library full of knowledge, history, and literature that was was destroyed by stupid fucking christians like you. Some of it might have proven parts of your shitty fucking bible to be historically relevant, maybe. Now we'll never know, and always be forced to doubt, and there isn't anyone to blame but the christians themselves.
