Americans don't give a shit about the rest of the world. The national hockey league has shut down a couple of time to play in the fucking olympics and it is the stupidest thing they have done since the lockout. Kills the momentum of the season.

If they interrupted the baseball season so a bunch of guys could go off to play in a fucking tournament I'd be super pissed. They'd end up playing the World Series in the snow in late November. The goddamn season goes on long enough as it is.

Panem et circenses.

Smoke & mirrors. Misdirection. And you fall for it.

And it's a full-blown billion dollar money machine in its own right*, of course.
But 'sports' they ain't.
Not much different from the real football, played and revered in and by the other 95% of the world, of course. Or the other national, continental, and global 'sports' concessions (Formula One, IndyCar, tennis, cycling, etc. etc.). Distractions galore.

*billions that are percolating UP, not down, BTW! To be sure.

Religious assholes are everywhere.
But fundamental Xtian Americans are trying to claim fundamental Xtianity for themselves. Exclusively. As a typically American cultural thing. Just ask Bachmann, Perry, Santorum, and Romney.
Well, it isn't, of course. But not for want of trying!

Wow, you really went off on a tangent now. Napo originally started this, insulting the Super Bowl, claiming that we don't have the right to call them "world" champions. At least this argument is debatable. Min added several good points about baseball and now you've been refuting all along with these unsubstantiated remarks.

It seems clear to me that you're looking for a stick to beat America with and I'm not sure exactly why. I'm sorry, but as a whole, your athletes just don't offer us any competition and Americans fall asleep watching your soccer games. Pretending that the reason is anything other is simply absurd.
You want to kick a ball around and make believe that you have superior athletes just cause we don't participate in your silly tournaments - go right ahead, but don't expect anyone to ignore the fact that you clearly have an agenda now. Bashing America by any means you can find.

At least that seems to be the goal of all of your recent posts.

No secret: because America fucks up the world, murders millions, spreads unimaginable misery and poverty, and cost me, personally, almost a million to date. All of it under the fake-righteous banners of (fundamental) Xtianity, free enterprise, and American superiority.
That doesn't exactly inspire warm, fuzzy feelings!
That's why.

'World Series' and 'World Championship Football'/Superbowl are illustrations of that attitude.

I actually agree with you about the bread and circus routine, R/S. In fact, I used that analogy a few days ago myself with our old pal Arch. And the distractor effect is equally obvious to anyone who wants to look at it.

I've told you before that you do not understand what is going on in the US. Far too many people just want to chant "we're number 1" about something. It can be something important....like we'll sprinkle bombs on your country or trivial, like football. Far too many people are way too invested in sporting events while greedy corporate cocksuckers and their republibertarianeo-conazi quislings are stealing their present and future.

What the corporate cocksuckers are trying to do now is cut out the 'bread' and just leave the circus. We'll see if the American people are stupid enough to let them get away with it. I'd say it is no better than 50-50.

I posit that they have already cut that bread for the next couple centuries (a 15 trillion dollar deficit, for God's sake!) but American taxpayers are still soundly asleep on that fact. The future looks very bleak as far as that is concerned.

I never insulted the super bowl. I only said you don't have the right to call them world champions. Which is true is it not? How can you be champions OF THE WORLD when only American teams participate. It's absolutely ludicrous.

You are prone to some quite ignorant posts aren't you Cinj.

I personally am looking forward to the day when Tim Tebow is arrested in a hotel room with a couple of hookers and a bag of blow. Either that, or getting caught groping another man in a public restroom. You know it'll happen eventually.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.
