I hate it when people call Ron Paul shit like "decent republican". Normally I dig a clever oxymoron now and then, but that one just pissed me off.

I have a very good friend in So Carolina and just yesterday she asked me for an "objective" opinion on the GOP field. Well that is simply not possible so this is what I wrote to her.

I can’t pretend that I don’t know these guys. That is asking too much. But here goes.


Mitt Romney is a two-bit phony. He changes his positions depending on who he is talking to and who is listening. He is utterly without scruples. Not only can he not be relied on to keep a campaign promise I doubt he will be able to remember what he promised in the first place. He is nothing but an opportunist and a shill for the business interests which are driving this country into the crapper.

Now hold that thought.

Compared to the rest of the GOP field, Romney is the sane one. Each one is trying to demonstrate that he ( or she when Bachmann was around) is a bigger fascist than all the others. Like Romney all the rest would sell us out to the Wall Street interests who damn near destroyed the economy in 2008. They are asking the American electorate to put the crooks back in charge.

That’s as “objective” as I can be.
