Veganism?

RE: Veganism?
[chuckling]

Feel tempted away. The Winter Prince's older sister is Vegan for health reasons, and it's interesting to listen to her.

Most people don't. This is because it is human nature.
"Sisters, you know only the north; I have traveled in the south lands. There are churches there, believe me, that cut their children too, as the people of Bolvangar did--not in the same way, but just as horribly. They cut their sexual organs, yes, both boys and girls; they cut them with knives so that they shan't feel. That is what the Church does, and every church is the same: control, destroy, obliterate every good feeling. So if a war comes, and the Church is on one side of it, we must be on the other, no matter what strange allies we find ourselves bound to."

Is a lion "immoral" because it kills and eats a zebra?

This is shit that religious twits hang on humanity. It has no place in the natural world.

Now if you are not a monotheist than where do you get your moral justification from to eat animals and their products. I personally can't justify it to my self. It's only when I was a monotheist that I thought its ok because God says its ok. You know what I mean.

Especially if you believe that this life is all there is then isn't it unfear to eat beings that are more aware of life than plants.

Shouldn't we be about minimising pain and suffering. Respecting life, especially life more evolved?

That is all i have to show to blast your veganism to smitherines.

It has nothing to do with religion and EVERYTHING to do with survival and the evolutionary history of my DNA.

When you are capable of proving that your veganism is more than mere belief, then I will tilt an ear in your direction. Until then you are just making crap up to fit your personal agenda.

Um....
Quote:So the question is, if we aren't supposed to eat animals, why are they so dang tasty?
Quote:If humans were adopted to a purely or even largely vegetarian diet, humans would have small chests an an enormous distended belly with miles of digestive track in which plant matter can linger and ferment, sort of like cows, or like gorillas with their cone shaped rib cage sitting atop a big sack of a belly.

But instead humans have barrel shaped chest and rib cage adopted to accommodate an prodigious aerobic capacity needed to run down prey animals over long distances, and a small belly suitable mostly for high quality neutrient sources like meat.

Well, if one person is willing to listen (or, technically, read) then I guess it's worth a try.Smile

This is a new one, but it's not entirely true. There are plenty of cases of people going from omni straight to vegan. The *only* down side to this is that it may cause someone to go back to eating eggs and dairy as it takes a lot of willpower just giving up meat alone. There's really nothing to worry about in regards to health.

Quote:Is a lion "immoral" because it kills and eats a zebra?

No. But this argument is irrelevent as animals don't have the same idea as humans in regards to "morality". I mean, c'mon, there are some animals that eat their own young.

Quote:So the question is, if we aren't supposed to eat animals, why are they so dang tasty?

Have you even eaten meat that wasn't seasoned, fried, or drizzled in sauce? I have. It's worse than chewing on cardboard.

They do. Not miles, but our digestive tracts do match those of natural herbivores. More information here.

RE: Veganism?
One problem with your link - we're omnivores. It would stand to reason our digestive systems would also match herbivores.

To be honest, I kinda debated on using that one. I found a web page last year that compared our digestive systems to that of other omnivores, but I couldn't find it this time.Angry
