Because the tea party was selling a bill of goods. On the other hand, this is exactly what they told receptive audiences that they would do. What is said among friends and what is said among enemies are rarely the same thing in politics.

Well, I think that preventing an abortion in a life threatening or harmful case of pregnancy is...well against the oath they take, yes?
I don't know about the others though.
