Strippers, Prostitutes, and Respectability

RE: Strippers, Prostitutes, and Respectability
There should be charities available that make sure that people aren't being forced into it against their will, but other than that, I have absolutely no problems with it. You own your body, so if you want to hire it out to people, it's fine by me.

I don't find it distasteful. It's potentially dangerous and has a stigma they don't need. They are women that I love.

Have you ever met someone who didn't do it for the money? Alei can say anything she wants, but her comments here make it clear she does it for the money. I'm sure if she had the means, she would spend that time with her kids instead.

Just sayin'...
And yes, I think sex can definitely be an art form. It is for me, and I'm not even a prostitute.

I would say that those who do not do it for money are statistically insignificant or (no offense) do it for other reasons, such as fulfillment of a need for attention.

I'm not saying I think it is bad. I am saying I don't want people in my family to do it for other reasons.

Let's take an example here, my niece is fucking brilliant. Her potential would be wasted if she did something like that. She could do absolutely anything with her life. Why the hell would I want her to be a stripper or a prostitute?

I'm not sure if anyone has brought this up but a big problem with prostitution is that usually there is a "pimp" involved and drugs and what not.....

I know you don't like regulation Big Grin, but regulated brothels are the safest way. I saw an interview with a working girl (bunnyranch(who are pro Ron Paul) who said it's perfect.

Indeed. I think it should be legal in whorehouses. I also think there should be mandatory STD tests and condoms, but I'm a stickler for cleanliness. Smile

I'll never forget being in Canada at Niagara Falls and walking hand in hand with my new husband. I was eighteen and just barely able to legally drink in their country. We were looking to get some ice cream and walked by a hug window with three girls sitting perched on stools (they looked younger than me, but that could have been due to their oriental ethnicity). I was completely creeped by it but had no idea why. Neither one of us could figure out what the place was as there wasn't a sign in site. It wasn't until we met up with my father in law and related the story that he told us it was a brothel! hahahahahah

Oh, dear. Did your manhole disappear upon discovering there were whores nearby? Tongue

Do you write for the money? Can you not do something for the money and still love doing it? I would never deny that I started doing for the money, but I do enjoy doing it. Especially my burlesque years. I probably would've done that for free because it was so much fun. I can't spend time with my kids while they're sleeping, which has made dancing ideal for earning money, and having plenty of free time with my children during their waking hours.

Is that not okay? You could just as easily say that actors do what they do to fulfill a need for attention. Feeling the need for attention is very common in both sexes. Some people brood about it, I suppose, and some people go out and get it.

Also, I would never call prostitutes "whores", or the establishments they work "whorehouses".

I've known several prostitutes who were nice, nonjudgmental people, and I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings, but that's just me.

I never said any of it was not okay, obviously. People can do it for whatever the hell reason they want. I would prefer people in my family choose more productive trades. It's not personal. I have absolutely nothing against there being prostitution or stripping. I do have something against a member of my family doing it. A member who could put their mind to use instead relying on their body, which will only have retail value for so long. Why would I want my niece to be a prostitute instead of a lawyer? Why would I prefer my nephew sell his body instead of becoming a professional athlete and a man who can actually tell his children what he does for a living? Think about this objectively. I don't give a shit what people I do not know do. I do give a shit what my family does and prefer better, yes, better. I'm sorry. Again, it's nothing personal.

I do write for money. I also write for pleasure. I can't catch an STD or get beat up by a client doing what I do. Huge difference there.

Seems more productive (and certainly more socially useful) than being a stockbroker or an investment banker.
