Intelligent design science?

Life threw several 55 gallon barrels of darts at a wall the size of a planet, and a handful stuck. We call that intelligence? Design? Hardly. We humans beings are a natural means of assembly. We did not invent flight, we imitated it, we did not invent combustion, we bottled it. The products of human beings are the products of purely natural means. We can say that wood might never arrange itself into a pencil, but why would it? What does this have to do with life, which is not a pencil? Where is the science, in this science?

I could not have said it better.

A person another forum is arguing if you make calculations of why a pencil cannot be made from natural means, inferring it to be designed would be science.

I personally think that would be outright silly and not science, because there is no chance of it even assembling by natural means, for any calculations to be made in reality.

What are your thoughts about it? Would it be called science?

Pseudo-science. Intelligent design is no more than argumentum ad ignorantiam

If we only imitate flight for example, then what is the origin of all conceptualization? Nature? Are we not the most highly evolved species on the planet? Does evolution ever stop? No. It just keeps going and going and going like the Energizer bunny. What is this driving force? Is it just nothing but what you think it is? Or is it something that an atheist has never thought of before? Oh wait, that's right. Atheists know everything because they have passed the first level of propaganda in God servitude. But don't stop there! You have so much further evolutionary progress. God concept is dead. So What's next?
You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.

Evolution is not a ladder.

Quote:Does evolution ever stop? No.
Wrong. Evolution stops with the extinction of life on this planet. Life is merely a process and by definition, has to end. We have a billion years at best before the sun boils off all the water and atmosphere around us, and that's long before it reaches its red giant phase in its own stellar evolution.

Quote:Or is it something that an atheist has never thought of before?
Atheism is not a world view, materialism is. Atheism is merely a response to unproven theistic claims and nothing more.

Quote:Oh wait, that's right. Atheists know everything because they have passed the first level of propaganda in God servitude.
I can safely say, to the highest degree of certainty, that no atheist here to date has ever once said "we know everything". No one is so legendarily thick here that they'd make such a blind unfounded appeal to absolute knowledge in such an overbearing pretentious manner.

I wish I could say the same for theists as a whole though...

Within the broad context of atheism inclusively and exclusively? Nothing.

Atheism is nothing more than the disbelief or lack of belief in deities.

Right now the fact that I care about taking a scientific approach to investigating and scrutinising reality says absolutely nothing about my atheism. And if ever I grow old enough to become senile enough to start seriously considering views that are inconsistent with reality such as spiritualism and the 'magic' of Buddhist reincarnation I make an appeal to my fellow man that if they had an ounce of compassion and/or empathy they'd euthanize me.

He didnt use logic. If he did he would have come to the conclusion that pencils where made by humans, how humans cut the trees, made the chemicals, fashioned it. Many hundreds of humans and history is involved.

to hold up a pencil and say "therefore Jesus" is utter ignorance.

Welsh cake, you sound nihilistic. It is attitude that controls 90% of your life and the rest is left to chance. It is how you respond subjectively that matters most. Is this "God given"? No, not necessarily but that doesn't mean you need to be an anal prober all of your banal existence.
You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.

Acknowledge the points I made and what you got wrong or go away.

Uhh, the sun will explode in a billion years??? That's projecting negativity quite a distance. Plus how do you know this anyway? Maybe the sun will burn for another 4 billion years. What about solar flares? Do they matter? I am not trying to demean you personally Fruitcake, but I will not tolerate stubborn ego-centrist philosophy. I am an enlightened being Godzilla, I will put you into your rightful reptilian place if need be! I don't play.

That is not what he said. He said the sun will boil off the oceans and atmosphere by then. Actually, the sun will boil off the oceans within 500 million years, and the rest of the atmosphere by a billion years from now. In 5 billion years, the sun will expand, becoming a red giant and shed its outer atmosphere, destroying the inner solar system in the process, including the Earth. Eventually it will become a white dwarf, shedding much of the rest of its mass, and creating a planetary nebula, such as this one:

At that point, the entire solar system will be gone.

It is a projection based on what we know of the behavior of stars like the sun.

The rest of your post is not with my time.
