My grandfather was from Chicago??? He had no trace of a southern accent, but I can't remember how he said 'pecan'. I don't know why I say it like that, honestly. I don't know anyone who puts more emphasis on the 'pee', so it must be a tennessee thing. I know the first time I heard it pronounced the way summer did was when I first watched When Harry Met Sally.

Trivia: Chess pie was invented by southern slaves. It got it's name because when the slave master asked what they called it, they responded "Oh, it's just pie." but with their thick accents, it sounded like "It's chess pie". Now you have some useless information.

Vinca minor is a plant we learned for landscaping last semester, but they also told us it was a common grave plant - especially for slaves.
