Wow Shell...thats pretty fucked up. Very fucked up.
On the flip side I would laugh my ass off if all of my private messages were made public. Whenever I post a PM I just pretty much expect someone to be reading them I didnt send them to (and no, I dont believe a single bit that Tiberius dumped my PM to AA without reading it) I have some very choice words about certain people (you included Shell) and some of my humor was dead on funny as hell. Might as well just let it all come out in the open.
Regardless, I still find it very fucked up what you just posted... very fucked up.

Don't worry. I got your PM too.
If what you thought was fucked up was the rule of thumb in this world, it would be a very dreary, very conspiracy theory-ridden world, rev.
@Vae, you know I think you are a darling. Given that you and I have actually had conversations outside of this forum and that they were, at times, personal, I would say you know me better than most here. Your opinion does matter to me.

While Tiberius' sock puppet could be seen as baiting RevJ. I do not think it was intentional. I think it was more of an inability to foresee the consequences. As for Shell's, I don't see how she could have foreseen what would happen there. Also, the mods are not responsible for the people that got all hot and bothered and decided to jumped in to defend the enemy of their enemy. These people voluntarily joined the conversation thinking they had an ally towards the people they did not like, and they bear some of the responsibility.
Even so, it was just prank, and the fact that it brought out the bad in some people is not the fault of the prank. I do think, however, the staff could have realized that this would be seen as baiting, and with foresight could have prevented this.
Anyways, that's my two cents, and I think everyone should just forgive and forget. Let bygones be bygones, so to speak. The hostile fallout of this prank is not necessary.

You could have done the decent thing.
You could have got another staff member to vet it as you had personal attachment.

Her insults were not to you, but to another. She didn't know that was you. You betrayed her confidence in posting her private conversation.

I am particularly annoyed, I was getting the tissues ready to cry at the AF.org's own Royal Wedding.
And, what Min said, just laugh at yourselves it's only a joke.

I believe you Tibers. You have maintained a steadying influence throughout. I'm not that close to you politically but I think you're okay. (Thanks by the way for the fun forums.)
I can understand you reading the PM sent to your puppet though in retrospect wouldn't it have been cool to return it unread with a note explaining the gag and asking the Rev to play along? It has been suggested that moderators read PM's sent between members. If that were true it would be truly reprehensible. Now I need to ask:
Do moderators have access to PM's sent between members?
Do you think there are ever good reasons for accessing such PM's for any reason whatsoever?
If so, for what reasons and who should do it?

I could have just done what she did and sent a bunch of PMs to people pissing and moaning about her. I could have done any number of things. You are not the arbiter of decency. You have long been considered a poe whose very posts are contradictory. I'm not taking a damn ethics lesson from you.
Quote:It was fucking not sent to you.
Indeed it was. Whether she knew it or not is irrelevant. Furthermore, it is well known in this community that our admins can read PMs. While they tend not to and do not post them, her message can hardly be considered intellectual property or any such nonsense.
Quote:It's generally accepted etiquette. You don't have to conform to that, but you should expect outrage from the majority of nitizens who do.
Outrage? How very overblown. The fucking PM was insulting in and of itself. She clearly seeks to hide the things that she said behind feigned innocence. She screwed her own intent by sending something like that to a member who she had never even spoken to!
Quote:Her insults were not to you, but to another. She didn't know that was you. You betrayed her confidence in posting her private conversation.
Betrayed her confidence? What confidence? She has been calling me all manner of names and having private conversations with numerous members about how horrible I am (over lies about things I never said) for months now. She even posts snide asides in nearly every thread both of us are in. What do I owe her? Fucking nothing.
