Afghanistan, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Jordan, Pakistan, etc... Neat little trick, isn't it? Or did you mean to say your god and statehood go hand in hand? 42

I'm sorry that you find it ridiculous, but history is filled with evidence of God and Religion being an integral part of the daily affairs of a country. So either call all of them ridiculous or admit that you oppose this because of your personal agenda. Christian Wrote:That a good move by the PM. God and statehood go hand-in-hand. Whose god? Yours? Allah? Zeus? Who gets to decide? You? These questions are just the tip of the iceberg of why relgion and politics should never mix.

I didn't say go and tell them you were a Christian. I said go tell them that Jesus Christ is the one and only true god, and that's the belief upon which they should base their government. That's a lot of people that would disagree with you, because they ardently believe that Allah is the one true god, and that their government should be based around that. Since I don't believe in god, all I would feel compelled to tell them is that they should keep government and religion separate. The point is, in countries of mixed cultures and religions, such as England and America, it gets pretty tricky because so many people have differing, yet equally deep beliefs about who the one true god actually is. This can cause major problems when you try to implement a specific set of arguable religious beliefs into the government. How would you feel if, in whatever country you reside, the government decided that Allah was the one true god, and changed all the laws to reflect such? You certainly don't believe it, but Muslim religious beliefs are just as valid as christian beliefs. Just keeping the two separate, and endowing religious freedom for all is so much less divisive, if people insist on having religions at all. 42
