Evolution
RE: Evolution
Exactly. When someone uses some multiple of billion, or trillion etc, it's sad that the question then has to be asked "what do you mean by billion?"

Can't we all just get along..?

I bet you also say "aluminum" and "sidewalk", don't you? And "chips" when you mean crisps, "fries" when you want chips... and as for "fanny", well...

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

The "christian worldview"? Give it a fucking rest. The best you'll get is "some scientists were christians". And? It matters very little what someone believes when it comes to science. I think it's fantastic that science has become so crucial that believers of ghosts and magic are determined to claim it for themselves though. Worshiping at an entirely different sort of altar nowadays aren't we?

The best you can come up with is "some scientists were Christians". That's was never my claim. The first worldview in the west was Greek. Yet science never flourished during this worldview's reign. In comes christian worldview and it is applied to science and we see improvement on old knowledge. This is not to take away form any accomplish from the worldviews prior. But if examined side by side each worldview leading up to the rise of science a case could easily be made that the Christian worldview lie at the foundations of modern science (just examine the basic presumptions and compare them to the Greeks and even eastern mysticism worldviews). Your statement is nothing more than a strawman.

Ironic then that these christian scientists that you are so proud of largely destroyed the foundation of your religion . Wink

I will ignore your ignorance for a minute and say this...you atheist still continue to use the old "a few scientists contributed to science" as my actual argument. That may be along the line of your reasoning, but I never made such a claim.

This is coming from the same guy that used the generic "Some early scientists were Christians.
Therefore Christianity is responsible for modern science." and claimed it as my argument (strawman).

Yeah, it'd be much more advanced.

That sounds uniquely Christian of them.

Yes, it marked the start of the Dark Ages.

You mean like the Christians did and still would have unless a few brave men had broken away from your dogma?

Get your facts straight. The introduction of Christian worldview led to centuries of stagnation for science. They were called the dark-ages. It wasn't until people broke away from your dumb view that there was any actual progress.

Of course an atheist would say that (well a dishonest one).

Actually Greek philosophers were more atheistic in their worldview.

Quote:Yes, it marked the start of the Dark Ages.
You atheist really believe that myth...tsk tsk

Quote:You mean like the Christians did and still would have unless a few brave men had broken away from your dogma?
While it is true that many Christians (or at the majority) at that time believed the Earth was the center of the universe. But it was not a Christian who came up with this idea. It was Aristotle a Greek philosopher. It was the prevailing worldview for over 2,000 years.

Get your facts straight sir. Nothing about the Christian worldview stagnated science. You believe in the dark age myth which was purported by some Darwinist in the 19th century to get the church to accept evolution. The main worldview that stumbled science was Greek philosophy which was nothing more than mindless drivel.

Yep, damned greeks, stunting our progress.

"The Greeks often invoked idiosyncratic explanations of natural phenomena by reference to the will of anthropomorphic gods and heroes. Thales, however, aimed to explain natural phenomena via a rational explanation that referenced natural processes themselves."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thales

So, Thales, in 624BC hit upon an idea we're still waiting for you to catch on to. He happened to be Greek.

Leave it to a Christian to avoid facing the facts.

Unlike your Jesus, that is actually a fact.

Thus proving that not even your errors are original, but copied from earlier and more accomplished cultures.

Get your own facts straight. Go learn about the scientific method and study the course of its development and see that Europeans do no come in until Renaissance.
