Anyone interested in poetry?

Anyone interested in poetry?
Hey all

Although I do write a lot of song lyrics, it's not very often that I write an actual poem so I wouldn't call myself a poet by any means but these are some of the poems I have written over the years... I hope you like them. Smile

----------------------------------
"Take Me 2 Ur Leader- (A letter to a politician.)"
By Paul Gleave (Aka Pearls a stinger.).

Don't sell me your society and not ask me what I think,
Don't tell me all the drugs are bad and offer me a drink,
Don't tell me your God made the Earth perfect in every way,
Just 2 give it all to you to build hotels and motorways.

Don't make decisions for me and pretend I had a choice,
Don't ask for my opinion and then ignore my voice,
Don't think you know whats best for me you haven't got a clue,
You know about as much on me as I give a shit on you.

"The 5th Monkey"
By Paul Gleave (Aka Pearls a stinger.).

On a pale blue dot a long long time ago,
After all the monsters had frozen in the snow,
The 5th monkey climbed down from the tree,
He took a look around him and then straightened up his knee.

And said, "I could rule the world."...

Fast forward a few million years or more,
The 5th monkey is now an instrument of war,
His lust for power outweighs his love for life,
And the only truth left in him is that none of this is right.

But he now rules the world...

Now as sure as tomorrow will one day be the past,
We need to curb our ignorance and take the time to ask,
If we are all monkeys and our fates are intertwined,
Then why is my life not truly yours and yours not truly mine?

Because then we'd ALL rule the world...

"Global WARning"
By Paul Gleave (Aka Pearls a stinger.).

This place is filled with dangerous animals,
Murderers, thieves, rapist and cannibals,
You cry for a hero but there's something U've missed,
It's only the bad guys that really exist.

People go hungry cuz people are poor,
While people with plenty are hungry for more,
This planet is straining the weight of the past,
And things that we need are wasted too fast,

They told us and told us a million times,
A day would soon come when we'd pay for our crimes,
But it won't be a God who's deciding our fate,
It'll be our stupidity, our greed and our hate.

------------------------------------------
And lastly, this one is a bit more light hearted but it does contain censored strong language. So if you're a big softy Christian BE WARNED. lol
------------------------------------------
"The Line"
by Paul Gleave (Aka Pearls a stinger.).

Here's a girl a cute female,
Lots of love but none for sale,
If she gives her love it's all for free,
I hope she gives some love to me,
But if she don't there ain't no harm,
I'll just go home and hurt my arm,
So walk away I don't mind,
I'll see you again if I don't go blind.

Actually U're lucky I'm talking to you,
Do you know who I am? Do you know what I do?
Yo baby I'm an astronaut,
Nah not really I drive a juggernaut,
Actually I'm a sports star, I drive a sports car
At weekends I play bass guitar with U2 and The Corrs in an Irish bar,
In the bank I've got a rake of cash,
I'm either a millionaire or a billionaire or just a pain in the ass,

I don't know maybe I should just leave you alone,
It's past my bedtime I should really go home,
Cos my mum'll be worried and my dad'll have a fit,
Cuz when you get to know me I'm a lying little sh*t,
But if you ever catch me out I'll just blame it on the beers,
But the real reason is, I've not had sex in years,

I'm building up sperm like I'm a f*cking bank,
I'd need training as a fireman just to have a w*nk,
So I've gotta try it on even though I know I'll blow it,
But if you don't call me baby, you could at least call me poet,

And before you come at me with a well deserved clout,
Lemme just say "Peace Ya'll" and I'm out. Smile

Thanks guys. Smile

I've written a bit. I had a nice little "write a haiku" thread going not so long ago.

I haven't read your stuff yet, just leaving work, but will later.

Edit: Read them, criticism would be hypocritical since I've only ever wrote a few myself, but I enjoyed reading them, thanks for sharing, was appreciated.

If you’re going to watch tele, you should watch Scooby Doo. That show was so cool because every time there’s a church with a ghoul, or a ghost in a school. They looked beneath the mask and what was inside?
The f**king janitor or the dude who runs the waterslide. Throughout history every mystery. Ever solved has turned out to be. Not Magic.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

Dug out one of the few I've done.

Pretty Picky 'bout Punk

My guttermouth is genuine genius,
Yet distinctly dicky for damned,
Had nofx from mxpx,
While going underground is been Jam-med,
I'll wait for the new green day,
Thou often did it clash,
Same tune ditty by saves the day,
Buzzcocks too simple and brash,
But soon see my speechless unease,
Hearing Siouxsie and the banshees,

I may be shades apart and solidly arsed,
But I'm just pretty picky 'bout punk,

So many rancid little clones,
Wish to be rich just like the Ramones,
Undertones undergo the usual uncouth story,
I've no fault gained with new found glory,
The embarassing sound of exploited still lingers,
Thou still listen fearfully of stiff little fingers,
Husker Du, I still shrink from you,
But better than Blink 182,
Misfits are melody gifted beyond the price tag,
But never brilliantly frantic like black flag,

So many operation ivy offspring are defunct,
Frankly, my dear, I'm pretty picky about my punk,

And now it seems the bad religion is dead,
Kennedy's killing joke remains to be said,
Along with the Presidents of the USA,
New York Dolls that are D.O.A,
999 have no use for a name,
No class sounding the same,
Peter can keep his test tube babies,
His public image limited to rabies,
Pixie Posers can keep their penny,
Wise to the farside prong of ten foot pole,

Its just my one track mind thats sunk,
Always being pretty picky about punk,

RE: Anyone interested in poetry?
I write a lot actually. This one's probably my best:

A Poem from Planet Mars

Upon the pages none have read
We danced as children with their toys
No red horizon to border our boundless fields
Which would become the unpublished chapter

Gradually the wind began its murmur
Slipping its message to the dogs
They begin to growl, snap at the outsiders
A tremulous chord swelling within the cavity

What then, when the fire, sword, and axe
Pave a way for the rising behemoth
The gallant roar of the gong, waves came crashing down
The last words of an infinite epilogue

After our vitality is stolen
And the dream we knew so well lay
Shattered like glass upon the floor
We sit, the two of us, you and I

And think of endless things, and distant stars
And ponder this winding river of ours…

Thus concludes this poem from planet Mars.
Now, that the flow is stalled,
The breath is held, the framework built,
Do the clock's hands fly, or remain still?
