Do you think it might possibly have anything to do with the country still being an absolute monarchy ruled by a superstitious and corrupt regime, The Sauds? THEY have the power to introduce all changes needed to make the country fairer and more equitable,with a reasonable legal system.

I think the House of Saud will cling greedily to power.Seems to me a bloody revolution will be needed to impose any real change.

Even though i agree with what you said , its not the big picture here . People of saudi arabia are ok with their situation . They think that theyre God's chosen people and that god chose someone from their land to enlighten them while the whole world lies in complete darkness .They fear change and development . And they think the world is trying so hard to take that away from them because they are living the life of virtue . Its so hard to do the unbrainwashing and almost impossible . I have tried that before but in vain . Sauds took an advantage of that and played it to their interest . They manipulated the people just like Hitler did ages ago to make them think that their security is threatened and their islam is in danger .they want the people to be occupied with things like "should women drive ?" Rather than "what the hell is going on in the country ?"

Where have I seen people like this before? Oh, yeah...my country(U.S.) also suffers from this mentality. Admittedly, we don't take it to the extremes that your country does, but that is only because the people who advocate secularism stand in their way.

Of course, the problem there is that as we have seen elsewhere in the Arab world, replacing one group of backwards scumbags seems to elevate another group of equally, if not moreso, backwards scumbags.

They need fewer scumbags over there before things will get better.
