What's not to love?

You haven't been "created" yet when your precious Jesus was supposedly alive for you to hypothetically love. Seems to be you can be talked into loving any pile of hypothetical long since decomposed corpse.

A "love" so promiscously given is worth as much as a prostitute's kiss.

RE: What's not to love?
Honestly, It is not Jesus Christ that I have a problem with, even though I feel that he holds no value in my personal life. It is the people who follow him that I have a problem with. The majority of "christians" try to be "christ like", which is a big no no. For the simple reason that nobody can even tell you what the guy was REALLY like! If he really wanted people to be like him, he would want them to do what? Walk around in the hot ass streets barefoot, speaking to people that would only listen because they thought he could deliver them from their ailments? Because thats what he did. I do believe that he was probably a real person, However, i also believe that people have raped the idea of him, and turned it into something nobody really wants. I think that if christ were still alive, he would've gone out like Cobain-- shotgun to the face.

Not possible. It's the biggest crock of shit ever assembled.

He is still alive.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

I have a new respect for Wonder Woman. There's just something kinda hot about a woman that can tie men up and make them tell the truth.

You cannot rationally love or hate the dead. There's nothing there to love or hate.

Do you despise the Unknown Soldier?

It's because as a free thinker I can't honestly say I believe it and keep a straight face. There's flaws that stop me from rationally being able to believe in Jesus.

"Free thinker" rarely equals rational. "False in one part, so false in all" is a logical fallacy. Jefferson understood this when he praised Jesus so highly while saying the miracles must have been made up. That IMO is the mark of a freethinker, if a picky one. He throws out what he thinks is bathwater, but keeps the Baby

But jesus is fictional, you might as well ask the same question about Gandalf

That is true in most cases, not all. I claim (with Chesterton) that we haven't actually tried Christianity except in 3 or 4 short-lived Great Awakenings, one of which made Ben Franklin marvel at "the change soon made in our citizens."

Quote:If he really wanted people to be like him, he would want them to do what?

He said precisely what in the Sermon on the Mount. What exactly is unclear about it? I don't see anything, which is why even the atheist H.G. Wells said he blinded us with the light he shed on our hearts.

Quote: I do believe that he was probably a real person, However, i also believe that people have raped the idea of him,

Well yes, and they've raped a lot of ideas, but that doesn't leave us off the hook. Am I a patriot because I say I am? Should I not be a patriot because there are evil people saying they are patriots? That approach makes no sense.

If you say so.

Greater men than you disagree no doubt.

Quote:The sermon on the mount is highly overrated. Love your enemies? Do good to those who harm you? Who are we kidding? If Christians actually followed his advice the religion would have been wiped out long ago. And don't get me started on the whole self-mutilation parts of the sermon.

Which shows you haven't got a clue what he is talking about. How ironic that you are more legalistic, and think more in black or white than the Christians do! I love it. Really.

Quote:How does a bloody sadistic sacrifice make anything better? How is this an act of love?

I dunno. Ask Gandhi.

What you are telling us is that you are much wiser and more rational than Jefferson or Gandhi.

You're talking as if jesus was a real person.
