If I say...
"Don't touch that red cup"

and someone decides to tell people...
"touch that red cup"...did I tell him to do that?

Just because some people use the scripture justify their own lusts does not mean it is actually taught in the scripture.

If I say, "don't touch that red cup" and you tell people "touch that red cup because he (genkaus) said so" then you are lying and not justifying your action based on my statement.

The church, on the other hand, did justify it using the scripture. That means, the scripture did say "touch that red cup".

Where did the bible say "ban the bible and keep it in a language which the common man cannot understand"? The CC banned the bible and banned the translation of it from Latin to English (only educated/rich people could understand Latin) so the poor were SOL. Where does it tell us to burn people to instill fear? Where does it tell us to love power and favor in the world above loving our neighbors? Where does it tell us to suppress the truth? Where does it tell us to oppress the poor? I could go on...

But you're obviously convinced that the bible teaches us to do every bad deed you can imagine. So I'll end this discussion here, since there is no intellectual honesty coming from your part (more like willful ignorance).

You call that "willfully ignoring", but I addressed those verses a few pages ago. None of those were "commandments". DO you know what a commandment is?

Jesus gave 2 great commandments (Mark 12:29-31)...
1) Love the Lord God with all your heart mind and soul
2) Love your neighbor as you love yourself

If you keep these 2, then I doubt you'd violate any of those listed in the OT.

Since atheists are a small minority of people, they should just be quiet about religious displays and gifts instead of forcing their ideology upon everyone else. They do not like it when religious people bother them so the atheist should set the example instead of following suit.

Setting up religious displays in public spaces- such as public schools- is an invasion, not a right. Praying in school is like atheists teaching evolution in churches. But you have no perspective. . . so you will ignore or deny this post. . .

Maybe you have a problem understanding what teaching is. What do you think the commandment is teaching? You giving me a verse of some men "raping" women is not the bible "teaching" us to rape women. On one of those verse it clearly said "there was no king in those days so they did what they saw right in their eyes". On others it said she can willfully LEAVE and that you cannot sell her 9meaning she was free to leave). And on the last one is spoke of Israels enemies doing the same thing that Isreal did to them in return (which was a punishment for their behavior). In the bible it teaches us that Israel did things that God did not approve of and for that they were punished by being conquered by their enemies. That is in no way condoning that behavior.

What do you think the commandment is teaching? You giving a verse of some men raping women is not the bible condoning the action. On one of those verse it clearly said "there was no king in those days so they did what they saw right in their eyes". That is in no way condoning that behavior.
