Browser of choice?

Which internet browser do you folks prefer? I personally use FireFox and Chrome as a backup.

In Windows Firefox primarily, Internet explorer if I have to, in Linux it would be Firefox then Konqueror I guess. Chrome is like scarily bland (not quite the right word but I installed it, hated the "blandness" of it's interface and uninstalled it almost immediately).

I didn't like Chrome either.

I have pretty much every browser on my windows computer, to test how my websites look under different browsers, so IE, Firefox, Safari, Opera, and Chrome. At work I now have to use IE but I sometime cheat a little by starting a Virtual machine that is not in the domain and bypass the proxy settings.

In the various Linux flavours I use FireFox.

Depends on what I am doing or the condition of my computer.

Dillo to see a site's layout.
Firefox/iceweasel/minefield for normal browsing
links for downloading
konqueror for secure browsing.

What's one of them then? Probably have, I just do these things without knowing what they are called.

Anyway, it's not very good Think I'll stick with media players..

The parsing engine, also known as rendering engine, layout engine, etc. It parses the HTML code / CSS onto the browsing window.

Firefox uses Gecko (and I hate them for it). Every decent browser uses WebKit, which is the fastest by benchmark tests, and also the one I reckon every browser should use in order to maintain web standards.

Safari uses Webkit, and Safari blows chuncks.

Yes, but it only worked with HTML. I gave up when I started looking at CSS and Java and started using components but then realised I was flogging a dead horse so started doing other things.

Now I'm using Opera....
