The Man From Earth

I just watched this movie on Netflix and loved it. I wish there were many more like it.

A bit cerebral for some of you hard core sci-fyers, but still very good for history nerds like myself.






Also, loved how they delved into the religious references in the movie. Fantastic all 'round.

I thought I recognised the name; he wrote four of my favourite Star Trek episodes. I shall definitely give this a look.

One thing I noticed is that shot of the Earth at 1:16. Just about every time a shot of the Earth from space is shown in film and television, that same picture taken from Apollo XVII is used. I recognise it instantly; I used to have a wall-sized (well, nearly) poster of it in my bedroom when I was younger. I wonder if it's an in-joke or something - a photographic Wilhelm Scream?

One of my favorite movies of all time. It is really little more than dialogue, but I kinda liked it because it makes you use your imagination.

Brilliant film. Certainly one of my most memorable. So many scenes stick in the mind, like the fact that he was Jesus and the whole film was shot in one small cabin and when it turned out that he was that old chaps father. It wasn't that he was immortal but simply that he had never got around to ageing or dying. I often wonder if there are any people like that in reality.

Helluva great film. Saw it on a lark years ago. It is a bit of a litmus for cerebral filmfans: When someone asks me whether I've seen it, I realize I'm in for a good conversation.
