God is almost omnipotent. He has many limits.

God is almost omnipotent. He has many limits.
Omnipotent is defined in part as having power or authority without limits IOW, almighty.
Seems to me that God has a few limits.
He cannot reproduce true.
He cannot enjoy sex.
He cannot reproduce without bestiality or cross species breeding.
He can only reproduce half breed chimeras like Jesus.
He could not create a heaven without Satan.
He could not create Eden without evil in it.
He cannot control wayward demons or devils.
He cannot sin, although scripture says he does.
He cannot live without needs like adoration, honour, obedience, love.
He cannot accept a soul into heaven without us accepting Jesus and human sacrifice.
He could not forgive sin without having Jesus sacrificed.
Feel free to add to this list.
How then can Christians say that God omnipotent, all-powerful and without limits when he clearly has many?
Regards
DL

I'm sure one of them will be along shortly to re-define "omnipotent" for you.

Remember, you can't spell omnipotent without impotent.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

He cannot be surprised.
He cannot change his mind.
He cannot be fooled.
He cannot get lost.
He cannot die.
He cannot forget.
He cannot fail.
He cannot be in one place.
He cannot be confused.

DL Christians say this because it is incordance with tradition, and not scripture. Again (per my last thread on this subject) the Omni apsects of God are not used in the bible to describe God, they are doctrine conceived by men to quickly sum up or define who they think god is.

In 1 Samuel 9 "god" thinks he has found the right man to be king. Saul gets all sorts of accolades but then, when he fails to carry out der fuhrer's bloodthirsty orders we find in 1 Samuel 15
Quote:10 Then the word of the Lord came to Samuel, saying, 11 “ I regret that I have made Saul king, for he has turned back from [f]following Me and has not carried out My commands.”
How come fucking jehovah didn't know that before he appointed "Saul?"
God always comes across as something of a shmuck in these things. I'm sure G-C will come up with some stupid excuse that will help him sleep at night.

Ability is not the same as personality. God can do anything He pleases, and knows all. But it is not in his nature to do sinful things. Sinful actions can enter His mind without Him engaging in or considering them. Say I dislike speeches. It is not in my personality to speak before hundreds of people. I know of speeches, I just choose not to make them. I don't consider them either, which is evident in that I don't tremble in fear when the word enters my head. Whatever "limits" God has He placed on Himself. It's called a boundary, not a limit.

No argument but just for your files, it is in scripture.
Revelation 19:6
And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.

Nice add-ons.
I might not be able to use cannot die though.
Jesus sort of did for a while. Semi-die sort of.
Please do not ask me to explain.

Nothing compared to when he repented at making mall of mankind in Noah's days.
Genocide buried his mistake though.

If all we see are his boundaries and they are way less than omnipotent, then why would people make themselves look like liars and say that they know God is omnipotent against the evidence?

Performance anxiety?
God erects boundaries to shield himself from some of the shit He creates but doesn't shield us from it? No praise for God!
