Frank, I think we've found our muse. :-)

The truth is, we don't understand how the electronic/chemical impulses in our brains translate to thought. Science will figure it out eventually, but for the time being, we cannot say one way or the other.

TO THE ORIGINAL POSTER

BULL FUCKING SHIT.

You are like a cheap romance novel, poorly written and only appeal to the intellect of Hagendase Housewives who love Oprah married to men who think WWE is akin to the Oedipus trilogies.

What you want to do is lead us down the road to "another world" beyond.

THOUGHTS ARE NOT PHYSICAL. SO THE FUCK WHAT!

It is not my problem that you are too fucking dense to understand that that is NOT inconsistent with reality. It is not my fault that you are stuck on some bullshit woo that "we" can live forever.

WE DO NOT LIVE AFTER WE DIE! ONCE YOU ARE DEAD YOU ARE DEAD! THAT IS FUCKING BIOLOGY 101

I know what it feels like.

It hurts. Stupid really does burn.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

I laughed so hard I think I just came.
Don't know if anyone here wanted to know that little snippet of information but now you do and its not going away no matter how much you sit in the shower sobbing and trying to wash the image away.
... Deal with it. -.-

At least you're honest, until we do know I think all options should be considered, to close your mind to one particular option because it wouldn't agree with your current take on reality is close minded.

Well, there are some options that do seem rather ridiculous. The option that our thoughts are conjured by fairies, for instance, should not be taken as seriously as maybe a hypothesis that the brain has some kind of unique way of decoding these impulses. It's highly unlikely that thoughts are some kind of metaphysical process.

Your thoughts and programs/information stored on your computer have the same physical properties. The only difference is complexity, the brain has billions more connections than a computer. Stop bringing mystical nonsense in a straightforward mechanism.
I have no problem sharing a common ancestor with the apes; it's being related to some people that bothers me.
