I ready very quickly through it and when I re-read it, I noticed I made a little error. Tongue

My mind is currently dealing with multiple deep thought tasks. Big Grin

Lol. I already know the answer to that question. That's actually what lead me to this question. Homosexuality in nature > Bonobos > Evolution of humans.

My post mentioned that 20% of every species of animal was in fact gay. I remember reading that up somewhere. Long time ago. Tongue
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

We are the only member of the homo genus because creationists failed to qualify for membership in the genus.

We're the only extant species because all of the rest are exinct. The others might look like H. Neanderthalensis, etc.

Or were you looking for something more speculative? Not really sure what you're looking for here.

Yeah. Obviously they're extinct. I'm looking for deeper answers. Like what are some of the theory's as to why they're all extinct?
This is stupid

It's probably just because we are the most adaptable.

Well, except in the cases of worldwide and devastating extinction events it's unlikely that a single reason can be offered for the extinction of so many different creatures. Maybe you could narrow it down, we could go through them one by one?

Most adaptable, yes I agree. Fit and strong, perhaps.

But intelligence? We'll.........

Let's just thank our species for it's few intelligent members that got us this far. Where the fuck would we be without them?

As an example, lets start with H.N. Firstly, there are some signs of interbreeding with ourselves. That being put aside, the anatomy of H.N. and the behaviours and enviroments that this anatomy favored along with increasing pressure from ourselves gives one multiple avenues to explore as to why this particular H. is extinct. Theyre much heavier framed, built for the cold and hunted megafuana (which we can determine by their tools and encampments). They went extinct in a major period of climate change and the megafauna is actually on it's way out right alongside them. We (HSS) are also badass competitors in the game of life, and we were on our way up.

So, loss of habitat, lack of suitable prey in sufficient quantities, and competition from a similar animal looking to occupy the same niche with the help of superior technology.

It seems evidence is mounting that the Neaderthal lineage didn't die out, and instead became merged with homo sapiens who first came to the middle east and Europe. So one might argue Neaderthals didn't really go extinct.

There is also tentalizing hints that Homo Sapiens who went east also interbred with another, hitherto undescribed species of genus, and thus preserved that species from extinciton as well.

That's true, and it's important to mention it, but it is also important to mention that there are no free standing colonies of HN left, any success this particular H had (if it had any beyond it's heyday) is inextricably tied to the grand winner of the Great Game of the H's (ourselves, of course).

If a group of 10 individual meets and interbreeds with a group of 100 individuals, the resulting next generation will look a lot more like the the original 100 person group than the 10 person group. But does that mean the 100 person group was therefore the grand winner?
