The Boss gets cut off in UK, they were right!

No, but it's absurd to not consider location in the laws themselves. This is really no different than the cops turning up at a farm house in the middle of nowhere because the music was too loud after hours. If nobody can hear it other than people who actually want to be there, then it shouldn't be shut off.

Obviously this was not a farm house.

I also think that some kind of signal to tell him to wrap it up would have been better than just cutting the sound... rather rude. I would be unbelievably pissed off if someone did that to me when I'm playing a gig. I care more that it spoils the end of a show for the people who have paid to watch it. The climax is often the best part. Wink

You don't know me, In most locals 10pm or 10:30 is the norm, but I fall asleep anywhere from 7 to 9pm.

I agree the climax is the best part, so why didn't they schedule the concert earlier?

Well, I'm coming from this entirely as a gigging musician myself, so when I say that you can get carried away in jams and lose track of time, trust me. That is why some kind of system should have been in place if they went over time. As I said before, a signal or anything of the sort, warnings of how long they have left, just whatever. Just cutting it off ruins it for everyone involved.

Politeness isn't a one way road.

I can tell you that my neighbors have kids. Their screaming doesn't bother me. I cant hear the screaming (playing outside) unless I am outside. What does bother me is when they kick a soccer ball or slam car doors. So, certain sound waves can act like a Chinese water torture. It is like disjointed water dripping out of a sink. It doesn't even have to be loud. All it has to do is disturb you.

I could go with that, but as Bruce's fans can tell you, he goes "that extra mile", which I wouldn't mind, JUST put it into the fucking contract and start earlier and end earlier, then abide by the contract and city laws.

And running it as long as you like ruins it for those not involved in the concert. Give and take does not mean those who have take just because they have.

No, it was in the middle of one of the largest parks in London, in one of the busiest areas of London, on a Saturday evening, at 11pm. The noise from the traffic was probably louder for any residents who live there.

Even the Mayor of London said it was "an excessively efficacious decision". This was 100% bureaucracy and 0% common sense.

Disagree. Cops and courts and even judges should have some latitude because of the complexity of a given situation. BUT I am objecting by principle of class and power. That should not play a factor. This was not a funeral or memorial. Bruce's life was not at stake, it was not like he was rushing a pregnant wife to the hospital.

"I just want to have some fun" no one is objecting to that. I object to the attitude of the fans thinking "fuck everyone else".

Please explain how that did play a factor. I don't see anyone claiming it did, or anyone claiming it should have. The reasons given for continuing the concert after hours are thus:

1) Everyone there wanted it.
2) They weren't annoying anyone.
3) Anyone who could have been annoyed were either there (and therefore able to leave) or in residential properties that were well out of earshot of the concert (and probably more disturbed by the traffic).

They didn't have that attitude. This was a Saturday night; it was barely 11pm. It was in the middle of one of the largest parks in London. The surrounding area is commercial and noisy most of the time, especially on Saturday nights. There is literally no reason not to continue the concert.

That was the law and he (or at least the organisers) knew the rules/laws of the venue. It wasn't as though he was playing or he owned the park and this was a new restriction, he came to the venue when the noise restriction was already in place.

But yes, the law is stupid (if all that about the traffic being as loud and it being mostly commercial is true).

Why can't everybody be in the wrong? =P

If you are on a deserted road in the middle of the night speeding, and a cop pulls you over, even the cop might thing "no harm no foul". But what is the point of laws if we cherry pick which ones we obey?
