There is no such thing as a comforting lie, lies always lead to trouble, whether the lie is know or not. I agree there are truths that are painful, truths like hell as a punishment for not believing.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Hell is a truth? News to me. 
Of course there is such a thing as a comforting lie. You're so sure you're going to heaven. It's comforting, but it's a good bet that it's a complete lie.

At least it's out in the open now, on the record for all to see. Hell is punishment for not believing. No mention of raping, killing, fornicating and all the rest - just not believing the least credible people's opinions about the most improbable, even impossible things. Thanks for clearing that up.
