Really? You don't know anyone? I'd have thought you might have tossed forward Jesus, but helping jerks is obviously far beyond his limited powers.

CATFISH

You did a quote in your opening post and said it was from the New International Bible. If you have a copy, can you look in Matthew/Mark/Luke/John for a few lines....a woman approaches Jesus as he was saying he is the son of God. She says...''but you are a Greek, it is said the son of god comes from the Gallalea area.''
It is only in one of the above four scriptures but I can't recall which one.
If you can find it can you put the verse/page number on her? Thanks

I've tried that site before catfish and it doesn't bring anything up.
In the latest bible version, Jesus' words are printed in red, so it's not a lot of trouble to scan through the four scriptures and find the quote. but my copy was published in 1978 and its not as good as the newest version. I have read that passage about Jesus being a Greek but just can't recall which book its in

It is really sad that you have a bad choice of words. You are calling those people jerks when they do not understand the word of God.

You choose to insult people instead of helping them understand the word of God. That is what you are called to do. Please do so, if you don't mind.

I had a vague recollection that this is an atheist forum.

Thusly I find a thread full of christians arguing about the correct interpretation of their fairytale somewhat..... surreal.

But never mind me, do carry on with your deconstruction of mythology.

Before you can evaluate, you must first construe. 'Correct' interpretation should be important to anyone who wants to evaluate the Bible. Not to say that anyone who wants to evaluate it must properly construe every verse, but rather that you should take the time to properly construe the particular verses you do evaluate.

Criticism without understanding is pretty weak, right?

I "understand" quite clearly that the bible is a load of bullshit concocted by a bunch of unwashed, desert dwelling goat molesters that has not one shred of supporting evidence for any of it.

Boy, you can't even provide any evidence that your jesus existed.

Never mind that the creation, the great flood, the tower of babel and all the rest of it has no foundation in reality at all.

So yes, you are right in a way.

Criticizing the Bible without understanding that it is a work of fiction is rather weak.

He does not believe in Jesus, so what good would it do, about as much good as if I referred you to Jesus.... Jesus can fix anyone who believes in Him for who He is.

My choice of the word jerk in this instance was not bad nor does it misrepresent the persons attitude, anyone who blatantly misrepresents the scriptures as badly and as often as he does, an being arrogant about it has an attitude of a jerk, therefore I called it as I saw it. He never states his position until pushed to do so, as far as I'm concerned he is here only to make trouble and that is being a jerk.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

You calling any of us arrogant is kind of like a 1950s Arizona cop calling a black hippie a fascist.
