Radiohead Don't depress me. And I think some of their songs are actually quite beautiful. The most depressing music I've ever heard is probably SlipKnot. I want to be sick when I hear them.

What I said was what a friend said about Radiohead and he's a huge RH fan ... I quite like "Creep" by them and there was another one I liked but can't remember the name of.

Slipknot? You mean generally as in fast or slow? I like some of their stuff, "Wait And Bleed", "Psychosocial", "Vermillion" and a few others. Don't like their image all that much ... those masks are just plain creepy.

Well I'm not sure what the SlipKnot songs I've heard are. All I know is the rock is insanely heavy its hard to hear the notes and they scream at the top of their voice and you can't hear a word they say. You want to be sick and then of course there's the fact that they're dress-sense and masks make you want to vom too.
Have you heard "Paranoid Android" by radiohead? Its beautiful.
"Creep" is good but its probably my 4th favourite after "Paranoid Android at 1st place, "Just" probably 2nd and "Karma Police" probably 3rd.

No they don't make me want to vomit at all, I just don't like the masks much ... their music is variable, some good, some just too screamy for me.

I've heard 2 songs by Radiohead, they were OK ... not particularly inclined to listen to more though Smile

The world would be a dull place if we all like the same thing Smile

Good point, very true.

Well I've heard a few Slipknot songs, and the one's I've heard were ALL too screamy - IMO at least. But perhaps I just haven't heard enough. But I doubt I will like any of their songs.
Well I guess its only like how you've only heard two radiohead songs and have already formed an opinion. No harm in it, I just don't feel inclined to go about hearing any more slipknot songs deliberately, I consider it a waste of my time because all the one's I've heard I find far too screamy and rancid sounding AND their masks are freaky.
Anyway, I'm not blocking myself off from them, because I know that I'm bound to hear some of their songs again, when flicking through the music channels on TV. And I probably will at jango radio (http://www.jango.com) at some point, I've heard most OF the song's that I have heard by them from there, I only heard one on MTV, I believe.

It's entirely fair to decide on something aesthetic on minimal experience, it's personal and you like what you like ... I hate electronic music and rap despite the fact that I have heard one or two tracks that weren't too bad. I'm not right to do so, I'm not wrong ... it's just what I like and the same for you (and besides I can easily see how some won't like Slipknot ... I only partway like their music, sometimes even think I don't want to like them). The band split for a while and the lead singer formed Stone Sour ... I liked them much better.

I would certainly give radiohead more time and might get to like it but I tend to like emotional music so screamy, metal and so on (angry I suppose), upbeat dance (happy?) and ballads (particularly those that are about futile love and stuff ... evanescence does quite a bit of that). I quite like symphonic metal too ... kinda inspires strange emotions in me. From my old days I still like some funk & jazz funk, soul and rare Motown/Stax stuff and I admit to being a bit of a sucker for highly charged slow soul stuff (tear jerkers) ... again that emotional aspect.

Try "Psychosocial" (I think it's slipknots latest single) ... I like it but the weird thing is my wife hates that kind of music yet strangely likes that one!!!!

We should have a kind of album club where we listen to a CD and then give ratings.
