And honestly, unless you're a true vegan, Frodo, your words are completely hypocritical. And I'm not trying to insult vegans. My best friend is a vegan and she despises Peta as well and has an adorable cat named Lena.

Seriously, You have no concept of animal welfare if you think keeping pets is inhumane. Also I would disagree that domestication of animals is always wrong, but I created this thread for pet lovers not to get into a debate about pets and domestication, so kindly fuck off.

False dilemma; there is a third choice where you do not keep pets AND you control their breeding habits.

I like pets though and agree that it is a bit of an arrogant act to keep them as is crafting metal into little boxes to travel in. Much of what we do as humans is arrogant and harmful to the environment. I say lets do it anyway because we can and let our governments control the externalities of such affairs while science works to lessen the effects of our acts.

Well domesticated pets are a perversion of nature born out of people's cruelty. I agree many wouldn't survive in a natural setting because they have no place in it. This disgusts me more than wants me to justify prolonged abuse. Just like it's probably be harmful to try to introduce a ferral child back into mainstream humanity.

Don't support the prolonged abuse of animals in the first place if you're truly an animal lover.

I agree with you that it is a perversion of nature but not born out of cruelty. It is born out of arrogance like much of our technology. As I said to Dotard, (I probably should have just made one post Doh!) much of what we do as a species makes no sense. I like keeping pets and my cat and two ferrets are happy.

I have a 5 month old female chihuahua and she's freaking adorable. She sits on my lap and sleeps for hours while I play Xbox or watch movies. Take her for a 30min walk and she's out for the rest of the day.

It's honestly like a mix of the benefits of a small dog as well as those of a cat.
