I nearly replied with a comment about natural selection. Greneknight's genes would be replicated because he can spot predators. His friends... not so much. That's one of the benefits of being a social animal... friends who aren't as stupid as you.

I'm sure some of them have become that way from personal experience, but certainly not all of them, and it would be far too presumptuous to allow legal access of child pornography to the masses in the hope/possibility that it may save lives. Without the research its impossible to say. For all we know, people who never even considered child pornography might find themselves suddenly drawn to this easily accessible database of kid smut, and if this turned out to be the case, and things got worse, there would be no retracting it as all that information would have already been copied and spread across the globe.

I do agree with the idea of castration however. Be it from birth or from traumatic experience, people who find themselves with this mindset are aware that if they act on there compulsions they are hurting people, there's no way they don't know that. All it would take on there part was not to act out on the impulse, if they can do that, they will live relatively normal lives, if not castrate the fuckers... Every time I speak to a fundie I just want to smack him upside the head, but I don't do it because I have a little fucking self control! I expect no less from peados.

Why are you sure? I gave my opinion alongside the admission that I'm fairly clueless on the subject. I'm intrigued to know why you claim a degree of certainty.

And I added a proviso to the access of the pornography (an employment blacklist), so it isn't exactly something a curious person would want to risk. As for it potentially increasing the number of paedos... I mean, I'm no advocate for the lack of stupidity in the human race... but even I baulk at the idea of a "monkey see, monkey do" when it comes to the sexualisation of children.

I'm not "sure". I simply based this on your previous statement, all I've expressed is merely opinion.

I don't invision a "monkey see, monkey do" expansion of sexual predators, I simply meant that people who may never have stumbled across this material as it available today, may come across it in an easy to access database, and find that they like what they see. Again, I know of no research that's been done so all expressed is simply my opinion.

And if the access to this material was on the proviso of joining a blacklist, people would invariable choose to continue to find the material without signing up for the database. On the database everyone will know of that persons affliction, but in secret, he/she may justify that he will never get caught. This would make the whole exercise futile.

Won't happen, though. We've tried forced sterilization before in the US but black and native American women were the primary targets, often being surgically sterilized without their knowledge. It was such a disaster that I don't see us repeating it. And that doesn't even bring up the biological issues that come up from the body not producing sex hormones.

Plus, I can't see either political party going for it. The left won't be fond of the 'cruel and unusual punishment' aspect and the right will probably just want to execute pedophiles. Honestly, I can see that happening: child sex crimes are punishable by death. I would probably be ok with it if I didn't see so many flaws with the justice system in general and especially the death penalty.

I think something similar might be likely, though, and I would be better with this: you're convicted of a sex crime, the judge has the option of offering you voluntary castration in leu of prison time. I feel like the job of our justice system is to protect us; if the judge feels like the offender won't re-offend if their sex drive is taken, I would be more comfortable with that.
