Thoughts on heliotheism

When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Sentience/subjective experience is something not really understood at all, and something that some philosophers consider impossible to explain. It does not fall under the other categories of consciousness such as self awareness and intelligence, but is something independent. It's impossible to observe a subjective experience. That being said, I agree with 5thHorseman. Whether you worship it or not will make no difference. Why waste the energy?

At least as a heliotheist you can prove the existence of your deity Big Grin

Just keep your prayers very specific.

Well, I certainly won't be praying to the sun but I think that this is a reverence that I like and it is the closest thing to theism that anyone will ever catch me practicing Big Grin

Actually, there is no proof that awareness requires neurons or a brain. I do, however, think it highly unlikely the sun is aware, at least to any extent worth discussing at this point.

Science is like a blabbermouth who ruins a movie by telling you how it ends. There are some things we don't want to know. Important things.
