Nice quote mine. I'm sure we all had differing opinions on things 8 years ago. Perhaps his opinion has changed now. I'm sure we could pick out seemingly questionable things from any politician we like if we really look hard enough. I have to say though, what he said those 8 years ago is true in some aspects. Some Liverpool fans do have this victim complex. Are you seriously telling me, despite what this report says, that no one Liverpool fan at that football match was misbehaving? They were at the very least (due to extreme numbers of supporters which shouldn't have even been there) giving the police a harder job than they had to do. Let's not forget Liverpool fans are the ones who got the entire of English football banned from European competition due to their antics against Juventus fans. I find it highly unlikely Liverpool fans, or any set of fans for that matter, won't misbehave in some way at a football match, especially when you start talking about thousands of them crowding in one area. There's always some set of pricks, either causing a complete ruckus or just being generally unruly. And who says this report is the be all and end all of what actually happened that day. The only people who do know what happened were the people who were there, and it's obvious that the Liverpool fans are going to be biased and say how well behaved they were. I'm just saying you can't make a ruling for definite on their behaviour that day. The police say one thing the fans say another. Quote: You know what, I actually love this picture. It shows how fucking awesome he is, even though people like you show it to discredit him. Not only does he show in this picture that he's the kind of politician who's willing to get involved and show a different more human side by doing this kind of activity, but he also shows he doesn't take himself too serious as he just laughs it off and has a good time. Why is this a bad thing again? RE: Boris Johnson for President!

Lemme see... how do you define a "quote mine"? I remember him saying it at the time, and it was a cuntish thing to say back then, as it is now. Is it a "quote mine" because I couldn't remember what he said word for word and Googled for a copy-paste? Is that what you call quote-mining? Perhaps I should just rely on memory instead. Seems a rather Luddite way of thinking; ironically so, since we're communicating online. But hey ho. OK. As for the rest of your post. I've ignored what you had to say about Liverpool fans. Mainly, because I'm hoping that you're having some sort of "off-peak" time at the moment. If not, I would like to disassociate myself with the part of the human gene pool that spawned you. The lies about that day have been sliming their way through the minds of bigotted fucks ever since 1989. The whole point of the production of that report was for the "official" version to reflect the "actual" version.... which police officers (who were there) recognised. If you maintain that the dead deserved what happened, you can go fuck yourself. No. Seriously. Go fuck yourself. And your obsession with Boris is too nauseating. Just go suck his cock, FFS. It's what you want to do, regardless of any "bad" things that you read about him. You're a Boris Fanboi, oblivious to negative reports. Oh, and you can't claim that today's report gave knowledge that hasn't been available since it happened in the first place. Today's report is just a confirmation of the truth that the government has been hiding. You keep that piece of dog turd over there. RE: Boris Johnson for President!

Yeah I shouldn't of said that, I had never even known he'd uttered those words until you brought them up so I thought it was a bit of a quote mine, however I've also seen on the news since he'd made an apology for it. So yeah, my mistake. Quote:OK. As for the rest of your post. I've ignored what you had to say about Liverpool fans. I was talking about some Liverpool fans, and I made that very clear. I don't think anything I said was out of order. If I've said anything you think is incorrect or disagree with then by all means tell me. Don't resort to petty stabs at my character or intellect. I think I've been civil enough in this thread, I don't think it's called for that you insult my genetics. But I'll take it with a pinch of salt. You're a Boris Fanboi, oblivious to negative reports. Showing your true colours now eh? By all means slate me and insult me with sexual remarks. It shows just how grown up you are. But seriously, don't lie and tell everyone I have said he's infallible or that I'm 'oblivious' to negative reports. Back on the very first page of this thread I explicitly said: Me Wrote:In terms of what he's done for London, well, good and bad I've also mentioned the fact that he's not perfect. Page 2 I said this Me again Wrote:No one is saying Boris Johnson is superman Seems pretty lame that you'd resort to such a petty response as to make me out to be something I'm not. Speaks more about yourself than anyone else here pal. Oh and this 'obsession'? Me being a 'fanboi'? Yeah, I like Boris, I'd go far as to call myself a fan of him. I think he's the best damn politician in the country at the moment. If you've got something to say about that then attack my reasoning for it not myself. However is seems to me it is you that has the obsession. The obsession of constantly trying to put this man down, and frankly I'm not seeing anything from you of substance which is actually convincing, or even makes him any worse than any other politician in Britain. It's annoyed you so much that someone actually likes this guy enough to back him up, that you're resorting to telling this person to go fuck himself and suck Boris' cock. Well we can all see how you won that argument. Gotta be honest, I think it's you who's having an off day hahaha Oh, and I changed my avatar just for you Red Celt
This is what you said.

Let's not forget Liverpool fans are the ones who got the entire of English football banned from European competition due to their antics against Juventus fans. I highlighted that end part in red, seeing as how you mentioned strawmen. WTF does Heysel have to do with Hillsborough? OK. To address what you said (and the families of the dead have been hearing this bollocks for 23 years, so any rage is justified when some fuckwit repeats it). Whether a single Liverpool fan at the match was "misbehaving" has nothing to do with what happened. Even the politest matches have the few idiots who manage to piss off the police and get arrested. Shouldn't have been there? They all had tickets. Giving the police a harder job? It was the police who mis-handled the crowd. A group of supporters (fathers/wives/children) turned up to a football match. Nothing out of the ordinary. They had tickets. When they arrive, the police direct them to where they should go to watch the game. They find that it's a bit crowded, but hey, the police directed them in there, and they know what they're doing, right? Pretty soon, more people come in behind them and it's getting uncomfortable. They try and make things less uncomfortable by shuffling forwards... even just a little bit. Row upon row upon row of people shuffling "just a little bit" results in the people at the front getting a whole lot of pressure. So much so that 96 of them are crushed to death. Yeah. Fucking Liverpool fans. Scum of the earth, ain't they? As for Boris apologising to Liverpool. Do you know why he did? Did he have a moment of regret after thinking the thoughts? No. Did he have a moment of regret as he wrote the words? No. Did he have a moment of regret after the words were sent to The Spectator to be edited? No. Actually, he was the editor-in-chief, so did he have a moment of regret when that issue went to press? No. His moment of regret came when the leader of the Tory party at the time (whoever that was) ripped him a new one and ordered him to go grovel. I have no issue with people liking other people. When the person you like is a politician, you can be held to account for what that politician has done, not whether or not he's a likeable old chap. In that, you have repeatedly failed to accept the criticisms of Boris that are very much due to him. And on that, yes, I'll call you to fucking rights about it. Okay regarding Hillsborough I'll extend my apologies I was chatting complete shit. I had preconceptions of what happened and since the mentioning in this thread I've gone back and looked up this report, found out my thoughts were wrong. I was ignorant, hell it happens to the best of us.
So yeah, you're right. I'm sorry for that. I take issue with what you say afterward though: "When the person you like is a politician, you can be held to account for what that politician has done" I call bullshit on this statement. Why am I in any way accountable for what this guy does/has done. Why is him being a politician make a difference? What if he was an actor? You go on to say: "In that, you have repeatedly failed to accept the criticisms of Boris that are very much due to him. And on that, yes, I'll call you to fucking rights about it." Now this is bullshit I'm afraid. Name one time I've failed to accept criticism of Boris? I demonstrated earlier I was happy to say he wasn't perfect, that he's done bad things. He's just like all other politicians in this regard.
Napoleon, I admire the way you concede points, when you find them to be incorrect. Not many people do this, and it is a trait much to be celebrated. But you know of yourself you can overstate a position and you are very good at putting your case forcefully. This I like also! But when the posts are a mixture of these, I see a tenancy for both sides to get into an area of personal abuse because of the confusion.
Both you and red celt know where you are with boris. But boys neither of you really wants to just abuse the other you are both bigger than that. |
