Here We Go Again!

RE: Here We Go Again!
Yeah, I don't know about sins not existing. Sins is synonymous to bad deeds. Do you believe you can't do any bad deeds?

I meant the only person you have to answer to is yourself.

We don't need to live up to societies expectations or religion's expectation. We just need to be able to live up to our own expectations and try to exceed them if we can.

According to whom? Your personal version of Morality? If so then know I will bow out of this conversation as i will not dispute that. But if your saying God does not declare these sin to be sin then you are.. Mistaken. Christ identified gossip and lying as two of the greatest sins. ( would normally provide the verses but I know how much hate that.)

Quote:Neither is lusting or hating someone.
Christ tells us those two are like commiting adultry and Murder.

Quote: If I lie to my grandmother and tell her that I'm not playing football because she's afraid I'll get hurt but play football anyway did I sin?
According to God Yes.

Quote:If I hate Hitler for killing my great grandfather did I sin?
According to God yes.

Quote:If I lust after women, it's because I was created with a drive to procreate.
Just because you are driven to do something doesn't make it any less sinful when you do it.

Quote: None of those things are sin and even if they are in your little world, I'm still not making an "excuse" to commit them.
Again no one needs an excuse to sin. we are hard wired to sin. In this there is no freedom of Choice/Free Will.

You are merely quoting your particular brand of christianity and the pastor that brainwashes you weekly. I can find a dozen christians who would disagree with you in a moment. I'm going to need to see your True Christian™ card.

On a side note, I have NEVER expressed this idea to you ... ever:
Quote:( would normally provide the verses but I know how much hate that.)

Quote your verses and do it often. I rather enjoy it.

I also don't see how Christianity redeems sins....I can see Christians redeeming themselves from sins, but I can't see how Christianity does that, it particular the sacrifice of Jesus.

There is a video by darkmatter about this, let me post it.

Christ tells us those two are like commiting adultry and Murder.

If he equates Murder to either i) Adultery ii) gossiping and iii) Lying (presumably that doesn;t cause death ) then he is one dangerous loon and he should have been remanded into the custody of a mental institution.

Again no one needs an excuse to sin. we are hard wired to sin. In this there is no freedom of Choice/Free Will.

This goes against the whole doctrine of Christianity that holds that w have fee will.

It is also a an extremely nasty form of blackmail.

Essentially you Christians claim we suffer from a condition called sin, that we have no control over, and the only remedy is to embrace Christianity (with all its demands) and if we don't we will be eternally tortured.

Frankly you should all be imprisoned for extortion.

actually, the bible is all over the map in regards to what sins carry what penalties and exactly what is overlooked.

Drich's point about adultery and murder being just like lying and gossiping is pointless, since King David was allowed to commit both of the former with only a slap on the wrist. This business of sin being sin no matter what the offense is bull shit even in the Bible.

That means we are bound to sin. Sin doesn't make you a bad person, for we all sin. All of the time, even after we are saved. What makes you a person damnable to Hell is not seeking redemption for sin after it was offered.

Step 1: Admit that you're a "sinner" (by which, you mean imperfect human who hasn't always done the right thing, I assume).

Check.

Step 2: Be willing to turn from sin (by which, you mean resolve to do better in the future and set things right where you can, I assume).

Check.

Step 3: Believe that Jesus died on the cross to redeem you by his blood.

Huh

You had me. You had me. You lost me.

This.

Never been told that. I usually tell them something offensive before they can say it and I chase them away. Either that or I leave on my own or I point out some of the not so nice Bible verses that they never bother to pay attention to. In general, I take control of the conversation and I don't let it go in that direction.

RE: Here We Go Again!
I ticked "Yes, some christard has used this one on me" because there was a woman in a Christian forum who said that I didn't accept the Bible as truth because I was like "a postmodernist who wanted to sin". In vain did I tell her the Bible was really false and would she like to have a formal debate with me. She insisted I was guilty of some hidden and heinous sin. She said she wouldn't be surprised if my mind was filled with rape!!!! I wanted to tell her that had to wait until I reached puberty but I had falsely led her to believe I was much older. I was fairly certain she was insane until I met other Christians (always on forums and yahoo groups) who said the same thing. I believe God is a metaphor. Oh, that's because I wanted an excuse to sin. And funnily, they're always thinking of sexual sins. I think superstitious Christians are really obsessed with sex.
