If it had only been a mention that we exist or that we were good people too, I would understand your sentiment. But his mention was much more substantial. He was talking about the rationales given for policy choices in government. Specifically, he said it would never be enough to just say "god wills it" or "that is what the bible says" to justify legislation. The rationale given would have to be comprehensible to people of any faith or no faith. This is what I want to hear from religious people in government.

I give him credit simply because this is progress. As far as I know, the last time a president before Obama mentioned us, it wasn't in a favorable light.

You're right, though. I would like to see him work on real separation of church and state and he hasn't really worked on that. His mentioning us in a favorable light is a step in the right direction but, damn, keep fucking going in that direction! Don't stop where you are!
