B.C. And A.D.

RE: B.C. And A.D.
This thread reminds me of the Christian fuckwit that I used to work with. He used 12-25-0000 as his password for everything. He truly believed (not just with his brain, but with his "heart") that this was Jesus' birthday. This fantasy is shared by the overwhelming majority of Christian idiots in the US.

Wow. The year 0 doesn't even exist.

Yeah well. A walking talking "son of god" didn't exist either, but when did reality ever stop a moron from having "faith"?

Absolutely but what astounded me is I can PROVE that the year 0 DOESN'T exist (one rare instance when you can prove a negative). It was never put into the historical timeline. It really underscores how Christians never closely examine their own beliefs.

To be truthful, the current calendar, the Gregorian, was introduced in 1582 (wiki link). Before that, people used the Julian Calendar, introduced by Julius Ceaser in 46 B.C. (or BCE - wiki link). This Julian calendar was a reform of the previous roman calendar and, as we well know, roman numerals didn't have a zero. Hence the first year of the julian calendar (our 45 BC) was year 1. The year before that was year -1. This rule was also adopted by the Gregorian calendar.

Curiously, this means that, until the year 1582, Christ had been born on year 45...

If we wanted to have an actual calendar for the start of the Common Era, I would suggest it starting 27 BCE.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

He was a Christian, remember? I think he had about a dozen porn sites on his "favorites" list.

True. The most devout Christian I knew also had the most porn of anyone I knew.

Sexual repression and sexual perversion have a strange way of accompanying one another in both individuals and societies.

RE: B.C. And A.D.
There are three types of sexual perversion:
1. Harmless activities deemed perverse by the repressors.
2. Harmful activities sought and performed because of psychological effects of repression.
3. Harmful activities sought and performed for causes not related to social environment.

I think Christianity is dominantly responsible for 1. Very heavily responsible for 2. And somewhat responsible for parts of three.
