Hi all,
I'm a 17 year old atheist from South Africa. About and a half ago I took an objective look at christianity and then I noticed the massive holes that I so conveniently looked over when I still believed. My deconversion is a very lame story as one day I was a christian and the next I was an atheist. My community still remains largely protestant christian, as to give you an idea of the ratio of believers and nonbelievers, I know of 7 atheists in my school of near 2000 kids. I browse atheist websites and chat to a few of my atheist friends to maintain a degree of sanity.
I'm still in the closet, even from my family. The reason I haven't told them is I have no idea how they will react. They could be super cool about it in the best case or they could stop me from going to university in the worst case. So I decided I will tell them after I get my honors in Physics.
Thats my story, I joined here mainly because the other forums I frequent doesn't have enough new content to satisfy me. Also this forum is a bit easier on the eyes.
