Dale Chihuly's Vibrant Glass Sculpture Garden

Quote:Artist Dale Chihuly celebrates the beauty of creative expression both indoors and outdoors in the newly renovated community space at Seattle Center called Chihuly Garden and Glass. The space, which encompasses 1.5 acres of land, includes an exhibition gallery, a garden, and a glasshouse as the centerpiece of the ambitious project. Within each environment of the venue, Chihuly's wonderfully colorful glass creations heighten the charming and enlivening spirit of the space whose primary focus is to celebrate the community's creative energy.

Gotta give mega-props to Chihuly, dude lost an eye for his art. I've been to this exhibit, it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! If anyone is visiting the Seattle area, I'd highly recommend going.

Glass art is the sort of art that is completely beyond me, and yet absolutely captivates me. I should have begged to learn to blow glass as a kid. We watched the demonstrator at the Ren-Faire this weekend. It's such an extraordinary and beautiful talent.

Summer, there are some glass works that rival this in the galleries of downtown St. Augustine. They aren't nearly as impressive in size, but I feel like you'd enjoy them just the same. Plan a trip! Haha

Glass is so beautiful. So much potential for playing with light.

I like glass of all shapes and sizes. We went to the studio that supplied the Maryland Ren-Faire one summer - we bought my ex's sister tiny glass-droplet animal sculptures.

Next time I'm down there, I'll grab the name of the gallery, maybe you will be able to see some on their website (they have a strict no-photos rule).

That would be good.

I really hate when people do that - part of the fun of going somewhere is being able to document it and share it with others who can't go. I'm pretty sure I could have taken splooge-worthy photos of Jefferson's library for Shell when I was in the Library of Congress but noooooooooo.

They did the same in some of the shops at the Ren-Faire, which is fucking stupid because I wanted to take a picture of one of the guys sculpting his cute dragon incense burners. I'm making some business cards for the local blog Mark and I are trying to get off the ground - handing one of those out might give me more legitimacy in the "no photographs" areas if I say I'm promoting local craftsmen and artists.

Do me a favor and don't put photographs on your business cards, lol.
