He did something that was pointless.
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

I am not your friend, I am not your enemy.
The "priest" is a useless parasite. Even my own mother would see him as such (and she likes to think she is "christian") and tell him to go "blow it out his backside".
He is not qualified to render psychological "treatment" to any one

Just like wishing someone well. It's quite the same. Words don't make you get better. So it's even pointless to buy a person at the hospital flowers, is it?
Thinking of this way, many things in our lives are simply pointless-this discussion included.

Life itself is pointless.

If he did request some form of liquidity in return for his prayers, I might have agreed with you.
In all, it comes down to the person in question, here, his grandmother.
From my view, only her thoughts on this issue matter.

Just because I can't discern a point to life doesn't mean that I don't like living.
I'm just telling it as I see it.

You really don't know how religion can "not ask for currency" do you??

This is the issue. Should she feel this is of assistance then who are we to deny her "The Placebo Effect".
And again I reiterate she IS 86 and has made it thus far thru war and famine and who knows what amount of trials and tribulations.
Cherish her while you still have her here to talk to ... other than that...let her go with dignity.

Well, we don't have this "pray for me imam" thing in Turkey, but people regularly express their best wishes through "I'll say a prayer for you or X" without asking for anything in return.

It's not just the assistance. I'd rather look at it as an expression of good will, rather than an attempt to cure or remedy a condition.

I am to understand you do. Ordinary people here doe the same ...it equals to a "Fuck you i don't care but I am to say these things because of my religion" Either way = they don't care and don't like you, the result is the same.

You can be so simplistic when you wish to be can't you? That is what I was referring to. "Good Will~ Placebo Effect" have the same outcomes. Nothing tangible, nothing you could 'take to the bank'
