I Am An Atheist! Ask Me A Question!

RE: I Am An Atheist! Ask Me A Question!
@ fr0d0 - Isn't the devil Christian because he believes in Jesus and God?

Ok then - Define a "Christian", otherwise your definition is so flexible that it's all too easy to slip into the NTS fallacy when u feel like it Wink

The NTS fallacy ... oh I remember that! That's what Frodo claims he doesn't [repeatedly] use isn't it?

Thankyou for proving my point guys. Yes, I wonder how you can be wrong Huh

(Keep stating your version of the NTS fallacy Kyu.. you never know, if you can get it into common usage it may get included as an alternate definition)

It is the accepted definition Frodo ... this has been explained to you before and not just by me! Stop hiding behind philosophical dodges!

Well we've looked at it Kyu and found it NOT to be. You've invented your own definition.

Frodo, I stated 90% here were raised in a "Christian" household because there were a few that were not, and are Atheist today. I don't take what you said personally, I was simply clarifying what I stated.

Yeah... they didn't choose to adopt the religious surroundings. I covered that.

Never an actual commitment for the positive???
I really wish I knew what positive you are speaking of in that comment.

Yet others, like Kyu, thinks he was a Christian by some extremely spurious logic that of course even he doesn't understand. Kyu would think the devil was a Christian because the devil believes in Jesus and God Huh

The devil was simply a "Believer" in a Christian God, but of course one could say, he simply chose not to believe in what a Christian god stood for. Hate, Jealousy, Incest, Rape, Slavery, Killing, damnation, but with fatherly love somewhere in the mix...... Confusedhock:

I have no doubt in my mind that Kyu, like many others, was raised in a Christian home or at best surrounded by it through their family when they were young. I guess I'm a little confused as to how you define a child being raised to be a "Christian".

So you are an Atheist now, or a Christian?? I ask because your signature states Christian???

RE: I Am An Atheist! Ask Me A Question!
I wasn't raised Christian or any other religion. My parents happen to be atheists. I still had religious education and went to church on school trips but was never convinced. Many who I've known that went on those trips became atheist themselves. I fully understand religion, I fully understand Christianity since I have studied it but concluded that it is false and nothing more than a big delusion. Think about it, trying to convince me that there is a big invisible flying man in the sky is like convincing me that the spaghetti on my plate will turn into a flying monster. Not going to happen!

All I get from theists is words. No details on how god did this and where he came from. No mentioning on how he broke the laws of physics. Science has a far more convincing case since it goes into great detail of when and how.

So during my high school days I rejected everything my R.E teacher was teaching. After high school I went through life as if religion didn't exist. Outside this computer, there is no such thing as a religion. No evidence ment no ears willing to listen.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

When you visit a Christian bulletin board, and you see a Christian ask that question. they are trying to teach you the bible. I know of many people (Christians included) that don't understand scripture. And as for you calling someone an "idiot" is way out of line. Why would someone ask an atheist a religious question? atheists are anti-religious. That's like asking a muslim suicide bomber about Jesus Christ.

I know of many people (Atheist included) who understand the bible completely.

All atheists are not anti-religious. I happen to be, but not all atheists are.
I used to tell a lot of religious jokes. Not any more, I'm a registered sects offender.

Red flag #1, assuming that atheists agree on anything except the non-existence of god.

A friend of mine who does not follow any organised church but, rather seeks to follow Jesus told me last night how odd it is that I know more about the bible than almost everyone at his current church (parents still force him to go).
