What I did on my weekend

What I did on my weekend
Well, as threatened, here's a summary of how I spent the last few days. I'll try to make it less painful than the actual experience. Be warned, though, it's probably not for the easily queased (is that even a word?) - anyway, it does contain descriptions of unpleasant medical things. For that reason, as well as its sheer length, I'll tuck it under the fold.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Good grief, Stim.

I'm exhausted just reading that. I'm glad you're okay now.

Sorry to hear about this, Stim.

Min the Magnificent has had a hard on for 5,000 years and never complained but I suppose that is one advantage of being a piece of artwork.

Be happy you don't live in the US where we have such a marvelous health care system.

Glad it worked out in the end (didn't read it in detail, I'm squeamish with that sort of thing).

FWIW, I was on quietapine for over a year. It felt like it took about 60 points off my IQ. That stuff has some nasty side effects, I was extremely pleased to stop taking it.

I'm sorry. That's one tough weekend. It seems you took it with grace though, so good on you.

P.S. is it too early for jokes? Because if I had that particular side effect, I'd be thinking of using it.

Thanks, I'm feeling a lot better now. Certainly better than I did at the start of the ordeal anyway.

Absolutely. Fictional characters get all the breaks. It's the sort of thing that forms the bread and butter of British bawdy comedy films of the seventies, but the reality is the exact opposite of funny. I remember mentioning to the doctor during that first procedure that it might make a perfect revenge to exact on an enemy. I don't hate anyone that much to wish it on them though.

You know, that did cross my mind at the time. I thought that it's bad enough having pointy things stabbed into my major organs without being charged for the privilege. That's one of the reasons why I will defend our NHS system against all comers, imperfect as it may possibly be and underfunded as it most certainly is.

I've come across (if you'll pardon the pun) jokes along the lines of "Call a doctor? I'm gonna call a friend!" and I can see how it can have comedy potential. As I now know, the real thing is the least sexual thing I can imagine. Even a shadow falling on it is painful. Well, not quite, but not far off either.

Holy crap Stim, that made tears come to my eyes! Mate, you win the hard man award, and not because of the priapism either; I'll be over at some point to give you the golden Stubby holder - you've earned it.
