Movie spoiler and off-topic!

Anybody familair with this movie 'Boy with the stryped pyamas'? I remember reading that the director had problems shooting the end because naked children and adults are included. It's a goddamn gas chamber scene.

Why the well should we censor naked children (in a non-sexual content orcourse) out of movies? Maybe we also should censor dead bodies because of necrophilia?

Well, I think it's a fine balance between the sensibilities of the target audience and the message/issue the film (or whatever media) is trying to get across.

Personally, I've read the book and watched the film, and enjoyed both (well, 'enjoyed' in so much as one can enjoy a book on the holocaust). I think the ending of the book (or film) is so harrowing and saddening (but also completely predictable but doesn't take away form the plot at all) that the addition of naked bodies/corpses potentially wouldn't have added to the plot/narrative.

I could be wrong. I also have to take the notion that the book is, in effect, on a child's experience of what is such a disturbing part of our humanity's past that the retention of some perceived innocence, no matter how little or silly in relation to the book, could be a sort of message that the director was/is trying to communicate to the reader. Just my reading of it, however.

But claiming the victim argument is you taking the "moral high ground" on this issue.

Ultimately, any conception of a moral high ground should be tempered by considerations of reciprocity. What I consider the very best thing a person could do in a situation should never be coerced since I myself would not appreciate being forced to enact another person's moral superiority fantasy. Most atheists have no motive to want this. Without some 'higher authority' keeping score, neither would you.

Personally, I find people who would intrude upon another person's autonomy morally contemptible. Nonetheless as a society we can and should decide jointly what we will not tolerate from each another. So, like it or lump it, I'm gonna be as bad as I wanna be .. so long as that doesn't intrude too far into your ability to do the same. It is intrusion that harms or interferes with another that we should not tolerate, regardless of how high minded ones intentions may be. If you want to kiss God's ass, be my guest. But if you want to insist I do the same out of your enthusiasm to really make God happy, bite me.
