If a scapegoat was needed, a person who isn't a scapegoater says "Oh well, there's a need that won't be met". Let's do UD a favor here and just assume that his faith and his convictions are aligned with each other, eh?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
I don't know about that. Tell a person their eternal soul is in jeopardy and they seem to be able to accept anything. Fear can make people do things that are not normally of their nature.

Oh, you mean, if I were to terrify the living shit out of someone to such a point that they become incapable of thinking they might do the unthinkable?
Do christians, in their day to day lives...appear to be in this situation to you? Seem pretty calm to me (until they start babbling about the fucking blood..anyway).

Well, that brings up an entirely different topic, which is do people actually subconsciously believe what they claim to at the conscious level. A Christian may not act as if they are fearful of their eternal soul's destination, because subconsciously they know it's bullshit.
All I'm saying is that I don't think it is so black and white that a person that accepts a scapegoat is automatically a scapegoater at heart. There are other motivating factors at play.

Hehehe, well, I suppose I just take them at their word unless they give me reason to think otherwise.

I wouldn't give their minds that much credit. For the most part, Christians are just dumb animals; you have to be to think that the bible is anything more than fanciful stories written by ambitious men who knew how to manipulate the dolts. For christs sake, they named them sheep even back then. If that's not an inside joke, I don't know what is!

What you think has no effect on what is written in the Bible regarding the sacrifice of Jesus for the remission of sin. You can ignore the idea, but it is plainly written in the Bible (Hebrews 10:10-12 is an example).
I am content ridiculing and chastising Christians for the patently immoral idea of vicarious atonement via human sacrifice; however, if you have some scriptural based argument that will turn 1800+ years of Christian theology on its head, I am all ears.
Simply saying you don't think so isn't a sufficient argument.
And what you think has no effect on what is written in the Bible about human sacrifice being evil and condemnable. It also has no effect regarding the words that are attributed to God where it's stated that there was never a command to Moses concerning sacrifices. What you think also seems to disregard the passage that states that each person will die for their own sins and that each person will be judged according to their deeds and hearts.
But anyways, your proselytizing is quite amusing. You know, an atheist trying to jam his version of Christianity down a Christian's throat. I was asked if the Bible was "pretty clear" about Yeshua's death... I answered... Deal with it...

I made no claims to the contrary. The Jesus fish must be a red herring.

You were asked if the Bible was 'pretty clear' about Jesus dying for our sins. Your answer was
Quote: Obviously I don't think so or else I wouldn't have written what I did...
(ellipses yours).
I dealt with your answer by referencing three consecutive verses that lay waste your moronic assertion. Furthermore, how exactly does my reference to a passage in your stupid book constitute proselytizing or invoke an idea that I have a unique version of Christianity?

Would any theists like to defend these obviously immoral passages?
Kill those who are not virgins on their wedding night:
Deuteronomy 22:17-21
17 Now he has slandered her and said, ‘I did not find your daughter to be a virgin.’ But here is the proof of my daughter’s virginity.” Then her parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town, 18 and the elders shall take the man and punish him. 19 They shall fine him a hundred shekels[a] of silver and give them to the young woman’s father, because this man has given an Israelite virgin a bad name. She shall continue to be his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he lives.
20 If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the young woman’s virginity can be found, 21 she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done an outrageous thing in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father’s house. You must purge the evil from among you.
Kill homosexuals:
Leviticus 20:13
“‘If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
Kill anyone who doesn't seek god:
2 Chronicles 15:12-13
12 They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their ancestors, with all their heart and soul. 13 All who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, were to be put to death, whether small or great, man or woman.
Kill anyone who tries to convert you:
Deuteronomy 13:6-11
6 If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, “Let us go and worship other gods” (gods that neither you nor your ancestors have known, 7 gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other), 8 do not yield to them or listen to them. Show them no pity. Do not spare them or shield them. 9 You must certainly put them to death. Your hand must be the first in putting them to death, and then the hands of all the people. 10 Stone them to death, because they tried to turn you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 11 Then all Israel will hear and be afraid, and no one among you will do such an evil thing again.
Raze any town that is of another religion:
Deuteronomy 13:12-18
New International Version (NIV)
12 If you hear it said about one of the towns the Lord your God is giving you to live in 13 that troublemakers have arisen among you and have led the people of their town astray, saying, “Let us go and worship other gods” (gods you have not known), 14 then you must inquire, probe and investigate it thoroughly. And if it is true and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done among you, 15 you must certainly put to the sword all who live in that town. You must destroy it completely,[a] both its people and its livestock. 16 You are to gather all the plunder of the town into the middle of the public square and completely burn the town and all its plunder as a whole burnt offering to the Lord your God. That town is to remain a ruin forever, never to be rebuilt, 17 and none of the condemned things[b] are to be found in your hands. Then the Lord will turn from his fierce anger, will show you mercy, and will have compassion on you. He will increase your numbers, as he promised on oath to your ancestors— 18 because you obey the Lord your God by keeping all his commands that I am giving you today and doing what is right in his eyes.
That may be a lot to chew on/reply to for one post, so I'll stop there for now.
