Your Game of the year 2012?

Modern Horror done right. H.P.Lovecraft meets Poe and King. A zombiepocalyps, black goo, mutated monsters, an evil coorporation, and all hell literally breaking loose.

I know most MMOers will just go for GW2, but Secret world is just...better. Except in crafting, lol.
It has one of the most amazing story lines I've ever played in an MMO, going back to EQ. It has a unique, very creepy feeling, and extreme customizability in both abilities (no classes, every skill is avaliable to everyone if you work for it), and clothing. I love not having armor change my appearance. In the gathering areas, almost no one looks the same, since their are hundreds of different tops, pants, skirts, coats, shoes, hats, glasses, etc. And lots of great weapon skins.
Another awesome feature is lots of original puzzle quests. not all just killx of x (though that still exists), there are James BonD style subterfuge missions, as well as missions that require real puzzle solving skills, and even looking up info in the real world (hence the in game google interface).

I found the 5 man instances to be extremely creative and interesting, and the bosses more fun than any I've fought in years and years.

It had a bumpy launch (rare that an MMO doesn't), but is really hitting it's stride now.

I am not currently playing it (stopped a couple months ago due to being too freaking busy), but hope to again next month, when the family will all get a little more free time.

Ugh, Perfect World felt like a FTP browser game. My friends and I did the free trial for like a day and couldn't force ourselves to ever go back.

My bad, I actually keep forgetting that skyrim is over a year old now.

Still worth playing though. I just picked up a copy on Saturday after renting it earlier this year.

Where do play? I just play for funny money on PokerStars and my avatar there is the same as here.

Just live, for real money at the moment. Haven't played online at all since well before Black Friday.

Basically, this. The game was generally phenomenal right up until that last ten minutes. All roads lead to nothing, essentially. The extended cuts weren't much better...SOME substance, at least, but not nearly enough.

They didn't exactly leave you feeling like all the characters had their stories wrapped up, as opposed to say, Dragon Age Origins.

You've not played ME3 I'm guessing? Wink

I find mass effect games boring.

Yeah, seriously. What happened to, say, Tali? Ok, say you were, well, me, and you romanced Tali [fuck you I love nerdy girls with wide hips, sleek bodies, and luscious accents who can also blow you away with a shotgun expertly]. What happened afterwards? Given that the love she had had a crush on for years prior to it ever happening has just fucking sacrificed himself for the entire galaxy?

What about Garrus? Your best friend [or if you were a female Shepard who did him, lover] and loyal sidekick throughout the series? What the fuck happened to him after his best friend/whatever dies? How did he take it?

What about Joker? "I swore to keep you safe!" he says in ME3 during a surprisingly heated conversation between him and Shepard. What happened with him?

WHAT HAPPENED with any of the characters whose stories were not cleared during the timeline dictated by the game itself? I know Mordin died [depending on choices] and LEGION died [depending on choices] but...the rest? There's all these fucking loose ends not tied up and they promised that they would, and they never did! And when we, the fucking customers, the ones who signed their fucking paychecks, DEMAND better endings out of service to, again, US, the only reason they fucking have jobs to begin with, we get...barely anything more.

And now we're expected to fucking buy their DLC? Fuck you, Bioware. Fuck you and your Day 1 DLC shit, fuck you and your Space-Cthulhu shit with Leviathan and...I unno what is happening with the new one and I find myself not caring.

And fuck you especially with these attempts to make us do microtransactions in the multiplayer.

God DAMMIT!! I don't normally get so invested in games but this game series was specifically designed to make the player get PERSONALLY INVESTED in the plot and then they pull this shit where all your investment pays out to getting a fucking undercooked hamburger! THE HELL?!

I just...no. I can't recommend ME3 for GotY. AC3...maybe. Once I have finished it, I'll know for certain.

'Til then, Dishonored seems my most likely choice...its Half-Life-esque artistic design, open-ended experience, Bioshock-reminiscent style [and anything that reminds me of Bioshock is doing something right as far as I'm concerned], and its mixture of steam-punk, diesel-punk, magic, and sci-fi just makes it perfect.

I did the same thing, in ME2 the romance was genuinely touching and brilliant (I feel like such a cunt for saying that), but in ME3 it just felt like they gave you the minimum amount of interaction with her they could, simply because they had to.

Then the only closure you get is her putting up your name on the memorial wall (because for my amazing ending they decided I had to fucking die, yeah nice one Bioware just the way I wanted to end the entire series). What a crock of shit.

Anyway, I think we should let these poor people get back to naming their favourite games, we've ranted long enough Tongue
