Oh?? Not that BMI is an accurate indicator but it IS being used as the standard for obesity (as far as I know)
Try this calculator.
http://nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bmi-m.htm
My BMI is 23.7
Zen's is (roughly) 35.8 (Yet he doesn't suffer diabetes, CV disease, no indication of any cancer (nor family history), .... In fact his pathology comes back with a clean bill of health every time, and the doctors don't know why since he eats this "gluttonous" lifestyle you speak of.... aka what ever he wants.
Sorry Daniel...you are just being elitist.

You're incorrect on this I'm afraid. Being even just a little bit overweight has a negative effect, let alone being obese. It severely affects your energy levels. You are at increased risk of cancer (just like smokers are at increased risk of cancer), of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. To claim there are no effects whatsoever is a plain stupid, ignorant "redneck" type thinking. Try this.
Doing something that you know in advance is bad for your health, and then waiting around to see what the health consequences will be is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of! "Uhh nothing's happened yet so it's all good". Why risk it? Why would any parent deliberately put themselves at a greater risk of 1. not being their for their children and 2. becoming a burden on their children?
Sorry but this attitude of "I don't care" is total bullshit. Obesity is an epidemic, why be a part of it?

I just can't stand your denigrating and arrogant attitude towards obese people.

It's really naive to treat obesity like a simple choice. I'm not saying it's genetic but by far your average fat person didn't wake up one day and decide to be overweight.

According to the WHO I'm obese at 92kgs and about 165cm.
Yet as Kichi said I'm in perfect health. I eat well with a minimum of junk, I don't smoke, I'm not a heavy drinker and I do a physically heavy job.
But according to you I'm unhealthly.
I put it to you sir that you are engaging in generalisations and don't know what you are talking about.

That would be correct. You can still be physically fit - and in doing so reduce some of the problems and risks associated with being overweight, but you're still at increased risk of health problems, just like smokers are.
You think every smoker can recognize the onset of cancer 10 years in advance? Using the argument "I'm not worried, it isn't affecting me" is totally ridiculous. It's like breathing in arsenic powder and claiming you're going to keep doing it until you actually see your health impacted from it! There are 0 benefits to being overweight, and a whole sweeping set of problems that it brings, why risk something as important as your health?
