Saints in Alters?

Saints in Alters?
Hey, I was talking to my catholic friend today and he was saying that in Catholic churches (Roman Catholic) they place body parts of dead saints inside the alter. I'm not sure if there are many Catholics on this forum but i was wondering what is the basis to do this? And whats the point for doing this? Is it just tradition? And how to they acquire these body's are they like handed over to them?
Just sounds a bit creepy to me.

I was raised Catholic and I've never heard of such a thing before. Doesn't seem like there are enough saint parts to go around.

Fun fact:

From the 12 apostles, there were 16 burried in Germany during medieval times.

And 23 burried in France.

That`s because the catholic church could demand massive cashfunds from those who made a pilgremage to these places.

Capitalism creates saints bitches!!!

One of the reason why Luther started his reformation.

I thought for sure there was a verse in the Bible that commanded the dead be buried so many cubits deep, but for the life of me, I can't seem to find it.

I am fairly certain that is where we got our local laws governing "6 feet under"...
Any help from the atheists regarding the passage? (lol)

I believe that is from the Mishnah....but I also think it is a lot less than 6 feet.

RE: Saints in Alters?
That would explain why I can't find it in the Bible then...
