I support countries that have high standards regarding who they let become a citizen and how they allow them to do it. Background checks should be something that all countries do on people who want to become a citizen of their country. They should also only allow a certain number of new citizens each year. I don't know how your country does it but in America we have a system where we make people apply and then we look them over and after a certain time we will accept them if everything checks out. Then we have this free for all system where we allow Mexicans to jump the border and once they are here unless they are caught doing something else illegal we don't make them leave.

The number 1 source of illegal immigrants is NOT Mexicans jumping borders, but rather people who go through the system and overstay their welcome. I believe it's student visas that are the biggest culprit.

It's not a matter of taking our jobs because what illegal alien can really compete? A lot of the poor uneducated rednecks in the south are mad about job losses but then again those people lack about as much education as those immigrants and so they compete for jobs with them. The issue with the illegal immigration that's scary to most Americans is that they can kill someone or rape someone and they aren't in the system. We can take all of the DNA samples we want and we'll never find those people. There are a lot of problems with murder, rape, theft, and drug trade along border towns and it's a really big problem for Americans that live in those areas.

I agree that there is an illegal immigrant problem, but you're mis-characterizing the problem. Besides, DNA samples are not some magical samples that can identify someone if you have them on record. Not every American is on record, which is why when there is a murder they have to request a sample from the suspect, and we're talking legal Americans. I believe you're referring to Dental records and thumb prints, which is a different story. Still, not all Americans have thumb prints on record and dental records are more for victims. I highly doubt you ever have to go that far for a suspect. I think it's very disingenuous to say illegal immigrants are gonna murder and rape people and then you can't find them. As I said, the majority of illegal immigrants are people who came over with Visas and overstayed their welcome. If you're talking about the Mexican border problem that has recently flared up, that is HIGHLY drug related and a bigger statement on the war on drugs than illegal immigrants.

Border patrol is the least of our problems. We need a better system, IMO.

I definitely think immigrants should be regulated, but I do not in any way think we need to limit the number of immigrants. Everyone in America is the descendant of Immigrants, even the Natives way back when. My family came over during the Potato famine from Ireland, and my paternal family was French merchants that went to Canada first.

I also want to see the number of people that are American emigrants. The immigration problem is always characterized as there is not enough room, but what is the ratio of emigrants versus immigrants. These are interesting facts to know.

You aren't completely wrong, dlf, but you are overstating one thing. Here in Arizona, which is ground zero for dumb-asses losing their minds about illegal immigration, the discrimination against "Mexicans" is palpable. However, not so long ago there was a little glitch in the value of the Canadian dollar v the US dollar and the result was lots of Canadians buying real estate. There was no similar uproar over white, English-speaking Canadians moving in.

Why do you suppose that is?

Alan Colmes had this on his show the other night. Said the smartest thing, if we had none, a salad would be $20 at McD's. Only other problem I have with them are the gangs. Known gangs to the (mini) Latin Kings (younger kids), Sour 13 (tagged the back of mom's garage, wanted to put sucks below it), and some other mini idiot teenager gangs that go by the "big dog," names.

We have the same problem. Many are Americans. (I kid you not)

We solve it by bunging them on off shore concentration camps until we can deport them. They are of course presented with a bill for the cost of their detention.(really)

The rate of recovery of such monies from Middle Eastern refugees is low. This may be because they have the inconsideration to starve to death, become collateral damage of American bombs or because few Taliban training camps have Western Union Branches.Devil
