I have a base-line tip (10%) and that goes up depending on how good the service is. I've only left no tip a few times and half of them were because I went with a group and someone else picked up the tip. The other times... Well, sometimes service isn't just bad, it's insulting.

It probably won't take much effort to find her personal home address, personal phone number and who knows what other information (if I had bothered looking through the reddit post, I probably would have found that, but it really turned into tl;dr). She might have some amount of local approval but the internet at large is gonna get her.

Plum, the minimum wage applies to most jobs. The reason service industries that rely on tips get away with it is because you're expected to work hard enough in tips to actually make at least minimum wage. No one seems to count on fucktards like this bitch. Or the way people get absolutely ridiculous about their food/service. Or people who go out to eat with the plan of not tipping because they really can't afford to do so in the first place.

Side note:

I got "invited" to an "event" on facebook in which during one week, people are supposed to pledge to give another 8-10% to any individuals they would normally give tips to as a response to this happenstance.

I may seem like an awful person for saying so, but I think this is shite.

1) The week does not take care of the people who will be shafted after and before that week.

2) Some of us, like I mentioned, tip really well ALL the time (unless you truly suck at what you do) because that person is doing a job I am literally paying money not to have to do.

3) Temporary Facebook fixes don't address the underlying problem, which is why Christians like this (because let's be honest, the only people I have seen do this are Christians) feel the need to be that stupid, petty, or nasty.

4) None of this gives the girl who lost her job a wage again.

In my view a bill for something is a bill for something, people should not expect extra as a matter of course.
However I would pay a little more so that the waiting staff got a decent wage.
