RE: Christians
The debates with ecolox aren't exactly going anywhere anymore. It's a shame.

God is NOT a simple theory. It doesn't explain anything, and it only poses further questions, not forgetting the fact that such beings are unexplainable and full of contradictions.

Simple has never been so complex.

Aren't all simple explanations like that though, Adrian? Smile

Well... if space and time came into existance with the Big Bang, then the big Bang makes 0 more sense than a god creating it. In fact, it makes less sense.

Original Existence can only be cyclic (And therefore 1=1 ratio is necessitated in the Original Existence)

You don't have a clue what you are on about do you?

No he just continually repeated the statement that i hadn't answered his questions, which i had conclusively.

Then he went on with his house analogy, leading to the conclusion that he's a little bitch who's too scared of the unknown to even contemplate it.

Utter nonsense. God, by definition, has to surpass the complexity of the universe.

Sadly, it looks like any explanation for the universe may be ultimately more complex than the universe it's self (Multiverse etc..)

You know I don't even ask Christians those questions because I really don't care why they believe what they believe. To even ask starts a debate with no answer and no end. Maybe it's because I've been an Atheist since I was a child. I was an Atheist before I even knew what one really was! After so long I've noticed most of my Atheist friends have also tired of trying to pick the brains of Christians.

I should have an idea what I'm on about, considering that all of existence is impossible without that. Say we are a video game: our creators (or their creators) originated from a naturally cyclic universe, where the identity ratio is 1=1 (as really should be implied by Cyclic, although i thought some people {i.e. you} might not understand immediately).

I see that I didn't miss anything then Smile No need to read the whole thread now. Smile

And your last point is exactly why the idea of a god is simpler at face value. If you think on that god for very long, you come to realize that it is a false definition. However, can you have much difficulty in proving that the god in question cannot exist.

Far harder than this is scientific theory, which must undergo many rigorous testings, before it can be verified fact/fiction. If you will notice, the majority of the world has bought into the simpler belief... a belief they not only don't have to question: one they cannot question. It perfectly 'understandable' to most people, whereas the Big Bang is 'understood' by nowhere near as many.

/sigh... M-theory, Multiverse, Big Bang, etc... all of these must be cyclic if we are the original universe... and at the least: all of the energy of this universe is cyclic... if not the entire thing. This is evidenced by the stability of identity within this universe.

I find the multiverse idea to be fascinating. Did you read the article in Discover about Multiverses? It talks about universe bubbles possibly leaving their marks in ours.

I used to think its pointless too, and most times it actually is, but sometimes certain debates can be informative. Smile
