The failed war on drugs
#11
RE: The failed war on drugs
The only people who don't understand that the Drug War has failed are in Congress.

Here's what we need to do:
1. Legalize and tax.
2. Improve treatment centers and training of those who work there.
3. Teach our children who to "enjoy the little things" (<- In lieu of a complicated lecture).
4. Offer/demand treatment to inmates released from jail on drug-related charges (or at least screening for treatment).
5. Don't treat drug users/abusers as criminals.
6. GET THE PUBLIC EDUCATED.

It's a simple process, it'll just take time. Smile

That's because if the war really worked they'd all be out a dealer or two.

It's interesting that criminals in office want people to think they're concerned with getting criminals off our streets.
When like unto gun control laws, the drug laws don't actually impact the source of the problem. Just the people who are consumers of the the product said to be the problem.

Indeed. When one examines the Prohibition of Alcohol in the twenties, it gave rise, not to crime, but organized crime. They started forming mafias in the US. Now, with our current prohibition, we've given the same bloody fate to Mexico. In the 20s, mobsters got rich and corrupted the government. Now, cartels are rich and corrupting the government. I'm not trying to make a point here or anything, just discussing the topic.
