You can't always control what your child does. Yes, some parents do not discipline their children which is sad. I completely agree with that and it does annoy me when I see a crying child but sometimes no matter what you do- the child doesnt stop! And of course, you cant physically discipline the child in public so what exactly would people like you to do? This child was small too from what I remember (i didnt read the article), not seven or eight years old. This man is totally rediculous and they need to throw the book at him. Who the hell hits a strangers child?

It is all a clash of culture. One side says if you hit your child you are a bad parent. One side says eh spanking is what works. I was spanked a few times, but not a lot. Some of you may call the following mean, but really it worked. OK, so my three younger cousins (ages 1,2,3 at the time-all adopted from the same mother) were staying at my grandparents for a week while my uncle's ex recovered from here little surgery. So two and three year old were done eating and three year old decides to touch the one year old's food. My grandma told him to stop and he did not (about three of four times. I was maybe about 12 but hell I knew what do to. I picked him up gave him a little spanking (not HARD just to were he knew) and gave him a time out (trust me it works, just ignore the cries unless it is an abnormal one).

What 'works', and what is 'right', are two entirely different things. Do not make the mistake of confusing the two... IowaBoy...

Some people feel spanking is right. Like me. Then again I was raised in a family that felt it was also right. To spank or not to spank is something that's debatable. I say as long as you don't bruise a child or break any bones then a spanking doesn't hurt. Plus only if you do it after giving them enough warnings and don't do it over every little thing. I spank my child if they do something that puts them in danger. Like..trying to stick something in a light socket or not getting off of the table when I tell them to. I usually give three warnings unless it's a quick response to something I know they have done before and know better.

Shocking, just shocking.
People still shop at walmart.
