You a protestant?

RE: You a protestant?
My impression of SHIN (from other forums) is that he doesn't follow any established church, but studies the Bible on his own. A perfectly valid approach IMO, but whatever he comes up with sounds insane because he's getting it from the Bible.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

GIGO.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

People have been celebrating Spring since the dawn of time. I just don't see how that's Catholic.

The poster you replied you seems under the impression there was a primitive Christianity before it got influenced by Paganism. However that sort of Christianity never existed, because even the zombie Jesus aspect of the holiday is pagan (namely borrowed from the various Dying and Rising God myths).

When I celebrate Easter, I think I'm being pagan, not Catholic. I like equinoxes and solstices, no particular reason, just do Big Grin

To our ancestors who either hunted or farmed equinoxes and solstices were extremely important times of the year, so it is natural that whole myths would develop around these times of the year. So these ancient people came to believe that certain gods or goddesses would die around the winter solstice and be reborn during the spring equinox.

However Australia where I live has more a cycle of drought and flood (for example; in Australia grass grows whenever it rains, rather than stops growing when it is winter), than a cycle of true seasons a lot of the Northern Hemisphere has. Thus I find the celebration of equinoxes and solstices to be quite baffling.

I personally do like to follow the seasons and have a little celebration, I like the Celtic-Eight fold year...a holy day every six weeks!

that...oooh! happens to coincide with some or another religious observance...
Dodgy What a coincidence!
